The Regional School of Ballet offers a structured and progressive curriculum designed to cater to dancers of various ages and skill levels, from early childhood creative movement to advanced classical ballet and adult classes.
Creative Movement (Ages 4-5) & Pre-Ballet (Ages 6-7): These introductory classes are designed for the youngest dancers. They focus on teaching the basic principles of dancing in a nurturing and creative fashion, emphasizing fundamental ballet skills, terminology, rhythm, and coordination through engaging activities.
Ballet Training (Ages 8+): Formal ballet training begins at age 8 or with director's permission. Classes progress from Beginning Ballet through Advanced Ballet.
Lower Level Classes: These classes typically meet twice a week, focusing on fundamental dance movements and ballet technique.
Advanced Levels: Dancers are encouraged to take multiple classes a week to become proficient. Advancement between levels is based on instructor approval, ability, and age.
Pointe Work: For dancers aspiring to dance en pointe, specific requirements must be met for safety and readiness. Students must have permission from the RSB director, be at least 11 years old, and have taken ballet for the last three consecutive years. To ensure student safety and proper development, dancers are required to take three or more ballet classes per week when studying pointe. Advancement in pointe is also upon instructor recommendation.
Adult/Teen Ballet: This class is designed for individuals who have always wanted to learn ballet or are seeking a more enriching physical activity than a traditional gym workout. It teaches ballet technique, terminology, rhythm, and coordination, and is structured to accommodate both beginning and intermediate students, making it accessible for a wide range of adult dancers in the Oregon community.
Annual "The Nutcracker" Production: A beloved tradition, RSB brings the community together each year around its high-quality production of "The Nutcracker." This provides a significant performance opportunity for students, allowing them to gain valuable stage experience and contribute to a cherished holiday event for the wider Corvallis audience.
Performance Opportunities: Beyond "The Nutcracker," students are likely to have other opportunities to perform throughout the year, allowing them to showcase their skills and artistry.

Regional School of Ballet Reviews
Really appreciate Shelley and the rest of the staff. Well done and we appreciate all the positive lessons for our dancer. One of my favorite things is how this studio brings the community together around the Nutcracker every year. It's an amazing tradition, and this place puts on a really good show!
Dec 13, 2022 · Eric MertenThis is a fantastic dance studio, and I wish I'd grown up dancing here. My childhood studio and teacher didn't know half as much about human physiology as Shelley and her teachers, so I ended up with permanent negative effects from ballet instead of strength and health. In contrast, my years of dancing with Shelley as an adult strengthened me and I was able to surpass my younger self. I highly recommend this studio.
Jan 11, 2019 · Amy DillIt is said that they are returning to normal classes after the pandemic. My child is currently taking an intermediate class, but they say there are only a few students at this level this year. I am satisfied with the friendly guidance of the teachers.
