Classical Ballet: Offered for Block B, C, and D dancers (progressing levels), ballet is emphasized as the disciplined foundation for all dance forms. Classes include barre work, warm-up, strength and flexibility exercises, center work, and across-the-floor combinations. Focus is on alignment, posture, grace, power, and control.
Jazz: Also available for Block B, C, and D dancers, Jazz blends techniques from Ballet and Modern. Classes involve warm-ups, isolations, stretches, across-the-floor progressions, and choreographed combinations, aiming to increase flexibility, strength, rhythm, timing, and dynamic movement.
Lyrical/Modern/Contemporary (LCM): Offered for Block C and D dancers, LCM complements ballet by focusing on diverse body movements, alignment, balance, strength, flexibility, floor work, and weight shifts. Students explore suspension and release, partnering, and improvisation, enhancing core work, fall/recovery, musicality, and phrasing.
Acro Dance: An add-on option for Block B, C, and D dancers, Acro is a fusion of dance technique, athleticism, agility, and strength. Legacy Ballet Reviews
My daughter loves Legacy Ballet’s tumbling class. Staff are kind/likable, facilities are clean, and our overall experience has been great. I highly recommend Legacy Ballet’s Tumbling classes. I can’t speak to their dance classes, but they seem great too.
Jun 25, 2025 · Jason FountainWe saw the Nutcracker put on by Legacy last night & it was amazing! Everyone looked so well put together, the dance moves were on point. We had a great time, just had to share our experience.
Dec 08, 2024 · Karalee CowartAfter trying two other dance locations, I signed my daughter up at Legacy Ballet back in 2010. It quickly became her home away from home. Her first love will always be ballet, but she's branched out into modern, jazz, and competition dancing. She'd probably take every style Legacy offers, if only we'd let her. (I even tried out the adult tap class!) The teachers are true professionals, caring deeply for their students. I'd heard horror stories of dance teachers that push too hard, yell at students, or encourage unhealthy eating habits, but that's never happened at Legacy. Dancers of all skills and sizes are welcomed and encouraged, and the costumes/dances are always age-appropriate. The studio is bright, clean, and welcoming. There's a nice area for parents to sit and watch. We look forward to the fun recitals, performances at various local events, and the annual Nutcracker with LBCC. We feel fortunate to have our daughter training at a studio of this class without having to travel to a major city. Legacy Ballet is one of the best things about living in Albany.
Jan 20, 2016 · Karen BarnettI have been taking my daughters to Legacy Ballet for the last 6 years. We started with a Mom and Tot's ballet class once a week and now we are there four times a week. I consider this studio a second home, as do my girls. Under the amazing teaching of Heather Hill, I have watched my daughters learn, develop and hone their skills as dancers. To see the smile in their eyes when they get that leap just right or to watch Heather counsel one of them when they are having a hard time with a certain move, is quite something. Heather teaches with pure positivity, and cares for her dancer and this studio with all that she is. I am so grateful that I have a place like this to bring my girls!
Jan 20, 2016 · Jennifer B.I was really excited when I came across Legacy Ballet's tumbling classes. My daughter has shown an interest in tumbling and I thought it would be good social interaction for her. I have contacted Legacy Ballet via email and received one response and nothing after that. I called twice and left detailed voicemails with no response. I mentioned this to a coworker of mine who had the same experience. If this business is unavailable to return emails/phone calls, their voicemail should indicate that. It's really unfortunate that the communication and customer service is poor because Albany doesn't have many options for extracurricular activities outside of sports programs.
