Ré Nua Irish Dance is dedicated to inspiring and sharing the rich tradition of Irish Dance, offering structured classes designed to foster community and celebrate joyful self-expression for individuals of various ages and skill levels.
Traditional Irish Dance Instruction: The core offering revolves around teaching authentic traditional Irish dance. This encompasses both soft shoe (Reel, Light Jig, Slip Jig) and hard shoe (Heavy Jig, Treble Reel) techniques, progressing from fundamental steps to complex competitive choreography.
Classes for All Ages: Ré Nua Irish Dance is committed to welcoming students starting from five years old and offers programs that cater to youth, teens, and adults. This ensures a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
Beginner to Advanced Levels: The curriculum is structured to accommodate dancers at every stage of their journey, from absolute beginners taking their first steps to advanced and championship-level dancers looking to refine their technique and artistry. The emphasis is on personalized instruction to help each dancer achieve their potential.
Solo Dance Training: Most dancers begin their journey with solo routines, focusing on intricate footwork performed by a single dancer while maintaining the characteristic stillness of the upper body and arms. These routines are choreographed to various traditional Irish dance music categories.
Ceili and Team Dancing: Beyond solo work, the studio also offers instruction in ceili (group or team) dances. These involve simple footwork combined with intricate formations, including traditional 2-hand, 3-hand, 4-hand, 6-hand, and 8-hand dances. They also explore modern "figure choreographies" which allow for more creative expression and formations.
Competition Preparation: For students interested in competitive Irish dance, Ré Nua provides training for local competitions ("feiseanna"), regional championships, and opportunities to qualify for national and even World Championships. The studio fosters a supportive yet challenging environment for competitive dancers.
Performance Opportunities: Students have opportunities to participate in various performances and shows throughout the year, especially around significant cultural events like St. Patrick's Day. This allows dancers to showcase their skills and share the joy of Irish dance with the wider community.
Focus on Technique and Conditioning: Classes emphasize refining dance technique, setting achievable goals, and continuous encouragement. Strength and conditioning are likely integrated into advanced training to support the physical demands of Irish dance.

Ré Nua Irish Dance Reviews
I had several dance teachers over the course of my career and Blaine was by far the best. In a sport that can be so focused on results, Blaine took the time to cultivate joy and passion for the art form in each of his dancers. Whether I was a student in his class or teaching alongside him, Blaine was always a safe space where I could share my goals, vent my frustrations, or just share my love of dancing without any of the external pressures of competition. He was always able to get the best out of his dancers, cheering us on or picking us up after a tough class or competition. His creativity and choreography are breathtaking, and dancing with him in Celtica has allowed me to find my joy in dancing again after so many years away from it. I am so excited to watch him transform the world of Irish dance with the opening of his own school. I truly cannot recommend him enough as a creative, instructor, and human.
Apr 14, 2025 · Moira HegyiBlaine is one of the most talented dancers and choreographers I know. But make no mistake - he didn’t necessarily come fully formed that way - I’ve watched Blaine work at his craft for years, understanding the hard work and dedication it takes to overcome challenges & develop outstanding levels of skill. As a teacher, Blaine brings both his talents and passion AND his understanding of the journey to dancers in Colorado. Take a lesson and find out for yourself.
Apr 14, 2025 · Ryan McCombeThis is a review for Blaine Donovan. I first saw him dance at the Avalanche Halftime show and was absolutely BLOWN AWAY! I have come to know him and would recommend him to any parents or dancers looking for an incredible instructor. Not only is he the best Irish dancer I've ever seen!! He is an amazing person who has the patience and skill to create amazing dancers and teams.
Apr 14, 2025 · Michelle FarleyThis year, I had the privilege of sharing the stage with Blaine Donovan in his debut Irish song and dance show, Celtica. Blaine is not only an amazing choreographer and performer, but also a kind and encouraging teacher, making every dancer feel confident and valued. I'm so grateful for our friendship and look forward to collaborating more in the future!
Apr 24, 2025 · Irene RojasI am writing with the perspective of watching Blaine grow up in Irish dancing. He is a kind and patient man. It is a joy watching him dance and his enthusiasm is very contagious. He is a very powerful dancer and the rhythms he comes up with complement the music. His thoughtful ways to help friends and now students to improve their dancing are spot on. He has a lot of experience performing and that translates into incorporating different viewpoints to his dancing. Give his classes a try!
