NorthPointe Dance Academy Reviews
We really enjoyed NorthPointe when my daughter was a toddler taking rec classes. The mistake we made was to move up into their competitive classes.Disorganized: The overall competitive program was very poorly run and their communication with parents was highly disorganized. As a new “dance mom”, I had to spend time checking through three different NorthPointe FB pages, email, NorthPointe’s company website, call other moms and call the dance studio in order to get complete answers to my questions and figure out last minute changes. When I said I was having trouble finding information, the girl at the front desk told me “it takes a year to figure it all out”.Excessively Expensive: Then there was the expenses associated with all of it. NorthPointe’s teachers chose gratuitous costumes with “props” like fans, hats, flowers and seriously upcharged for those items. One of my daughter’s dance “costumes” was an outfit from SHEIN that cost $12 but NorthPointe charged $175 (which we were charged for each of the 6 costumes my daughter wore, sometimes more if the costume was considered “elaborate”). My daughter was also required to get name brand tennis shoes (read: Nike, Converse, Vans in colors my daughter wouldn’t wear in real life) as part of different costumes that cost $80-150 each. Not to mention all of the other dance shoes, the “required” company leotard and tights my daughter needed for every class.Inconvenient Class Times: One season we were committed to classes every Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday morning because they were the only class times offered. That year my family was at the mercy of dance every single weekend. She also had a class at 4pm during the week. As a working mom, I struggled trying to get her to dance. Maybe this all would have been fine, I suppose, if I could have watched my daughter dance. However the studio only has a benches for seating and no windows to see the company dancers.Competitive? I told myself I was doing it all to get my daughter experience in the “competitive” aspect of dance……but….what I came to find out was that some of the “competitions” weren’t true competitions. The dancers were only competing for a score. They weren’t actually competing against any other dance teams/studios.All in all my experience with NorthPointe was a disappointment. It was a waste of thousands of dollars, hundreds of hours of my time feeling confused while searching for answers, only to end up actually watching my daughter dance for a grand total of 30 minutes during her career at NorthPointe. NorthPointe is a great recreational dance studio. I wish I would have just kept it at that.
Apr 30, 2025 · The Whimsy BoutiqueHands down the best dance program around. Our daughter had been doing it a few years more and loves all the teachers. Specially Ms Lexi!!
Dec 13, 2024 · Chris WorthenMost folks attend this studio for convenience, not for quality, beware as what you gain in convenience is paid for in every other way.The instructors teach many classes and as such, while they are amazing and good with kids, they have difficulties remembering all of the recital dances when working with the kids.Parking. This place has inadequate parking for the size of the studio, you will often find yourself parking on the street, in another place of business, or across the street.Fees, fees, FEES!! There is something new each year! The costs are rising exponentially above what one would expect with inflation. Even though parents sign a fee agreement, they purposely didn’t mention in that agreement (every other penny they charge is mentioned) that they would be charging $14 per person to ATTEND the recital. Oh and there are 5 recitals, so if you are in two classes or have two kids in different recitals, you have to pay that fee 2/3/4 or five times, for every family member. If transparency, quality, and ethics are things you care about, keep looking.

Sep 02, 2021 · Samantha SpencerMy daughter had tried dance at another location but didn't really get engaged. North Pointe Dance Academy is so different! She started out in a summer camp and immediately loved it! The teachers are all fantastic, and I know she is getting a great foundation in dance, as well as making great new friends!
