Dec 09, 2024 · Victoria BedfordWriting this review as a former dancer, now teacher and choreographer, and former company dancer/performer. I loved my time at NFBT, a very warm environment with exceptional technique training. I believe the training I received at NFBT set me up for success in the professional dance world. For anyone looking for great training, beautiful performances, and amazing teachers I would highly recommend this studio :)
May 01, 2024 · Jessilyn RayMs. Missy, Mr. Miller, Ms. Michele, and Ms. Heather are some of the best dance instructors in North Florida. We have been to many schools in the Jacksonville area - some more expensive, some less expensive. All tout themselves as being ‘pre professional’. Pre-professional is only what the ballerina makes of it at any age. North Florida Ballet Theatre does their utmost best to develop these girls into beautiful, loving young ladies. The teachers work with the students specific needs to better their dance. Favoritism and drama are non-existent in this school —- a welcomed changed. My daughter has absolutely loved her experience at NFBT. The space available to the students is fantastic; they even have a large “open” room where the girls can keep their bags and have a quick drink between classes without clogging the main lobby. This school has true heart and it shows through and through.
Jul 27, 2019 · Jim DavisThis studio has done so much for me for the last three years! Ms. Missy and all of her wonderful teachers truly care about and love every single student and strive to make them the best dancers they can be. I've seen so much improvement in my technique since I began my training here and am so grateful for the way Ms. Missy makes the whole studio a family!
Jul 27, 2019 · Goldie MimsWell... we attended the other school before, and we loved it. This one is closer to home, but now I would rather have a 20 min ride. Lets begin.... the school is too expensive for recreational ballet-daycare, but too silly for the future professionals. First of all this school has no place for future ballerinas to change. Actually, they do have space, but guys are allowed in there... so the only place to change is an always-occupied-rest-room. The place os clean and welcoming, though. But we ended up changing in the car or Publix restroom. Teachers seem to be “just-do-my-job” except for one who is coaching her own awesome girls. Classes are grouped by age, not by skills. Destructive kids are allowed in the class. One girl (8yo class) was literally rolling on the floor while others were practicing. Then my child refused to attend a class because the same girl were messing with her hair/costume, etc. I greatly appreciate Ms. Missy trying to work out with my special child, but i believe that those who can not follow direction should leave. Rehearsal was nightmare. Most little kids had 10 min part, but all 200 little kids stayed in a 1000 square feet hot room 4pm-10pm. It was very stressful, and actual rehearsal started at 6:30pm. Recital was cute, but 6-8 yo lids could not dance on sync, and 3-4-5 yo fid not know their moves well.... We paid $75 recital fee, +$35 per ticket to watch the performance, and then we were charged full month for June (to offset the performance rent).... June is a summer camps time, and I just wondering who were able to attend ballet classes. The most awkward thing had happened at the end of recital. Ms. Missy gave away awards. Awards went only to few kids who “were with me for 4 consecutive years”. Should I describe sour faces of all other children? Many little (4-5-6-7-8yo) girls were crying after the recital, because they believed they all did a good job and they got no award. This year I will take 20 min drive to attend the school we have been attending before.
