These contrasting perspectives are part of the public dialogue surrounding the school and should be considered by those exploring Irish dance options in the Portland area. The school's official mission states a commitment to a "supportive, fun and inclusive environment" and "a safe learning environment for all students through responsibility and mutual respect towards teachers, fellow students and parents."

Murray Irish Dance School Reviews
I have been attending Geraldine’s school for a couple years now. She is a fantastic instructor. If you really want to learn great technique and excel in Irish dance she is the one to go to. Geraldine is patient and pushes her students to challenge themselves. Strongly recommend this school.
Mar 24, 2025 · God Save The QueenDo not send your kids to this school!!!!!! We had a horrible experience with the teacher, as did many other parents/kids that have left and gone to other dance schools.First red flag- parents are banned from watching her class/teach. Never a good sign!! Kid's reported that she would yell and belittle them in class.Second HUGE red flag-kids are not allowed to be friends with other dancers from other Irish dance schools or with kids that have left Murray. Teacher would check their social media, make them follow her so she could check in on them They were told they had to unfollow certain dancers especially if a dancer left or was kicked out of Murray. Teacher would say terrible things about the child/family that left. It was so sad!Third red flag-kids were not allowed to attend certain competitions because teacher did not like the school or the dance teacher. It was very controlling. The biggest red flag-teacher would randomly kick kids out of her school for no reason (forcing them to serve a 6 month ban). It was usually because she had a problem with parents questioning her. It was done in retaliation. It happened all the time, so the kids were scared they will be next!!! Every few years she would kick out a bunch of dancers and then a whole group would leave her school in protest. Very unstable and stressful dance environment. We found her behavior cruel and manipulating, the whole experience reeks of Dance Moms! Lots of other Irish dance schools to pick from, IMO, any are better than this one!!!
