My daughter started dancing at MDA at age 3 and joined the competition team in the 2024–25 season. Unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations due to communication issues and lack of transparency. We were charged for choreography and music that were not customized or up to date, and costume fees ($100 each) didn’t match what the actual price was. I also stepped in to help finish choreography that was not completed and due to lack of genre-specific support. After sending the email about the concerns I was having on February 4th, I wasn’t greeted or spoken to until the second competition on April 12th.As a new competition parent, I received little guidance and often got last-minute info or no replies at all. Older dance mom stepped in and were a blessing.The last competition was in May, but we were still charged over $500 for June for private lessons (excluding June tuition and recital costumes). Previous dance moms mentioned that this was the first time this happened, and it wasn’t mentioned in the contract. We weren’t given any warning about the charge. Competition season was over! Her excuse to an another parent was to go over judges critiques from the final competition. I was also never given critiques from competitions to see what my child needed to improve on but the other parents did.After we chose not to sign next season competition contract, we were removed from studio groups on social media even though our season wasn’t finished, we paid for the month. I had to go through other parents regarding the last recital due to not having the information. My child wasn’t acknowledged at the final recital. That was deeply disappointing, considering the years we’ve dedicated to the studio.I’ve never had an issue investing in my child or had any financial problems. But when you’re just charging to line your pockets and not the well-being of the dancers representing your studio, that’s where it went wrong for me.If I had just kept my child enrolled in classes, I wouldn’t have had these issues. If communication had been open and not passive through others, everything would have been different. If you keep your head down and don’t speak up, everything will be fine. I’m not that mom if I’m confused or concerned; I’m going to reach out for clarity.However, five competition families are not returning to the studio next season due to unprofessionalism and/or their personal opinions about MDA, now called MDA House of Dance. It’s their story to tell, not mine. They’ve all been active members of the studio. So, I know this isn’t me going on a rant.While many of the volunteers, dancers, and other parents were wonderful, I hope MDA improves its professionalism and parent communication going forward. I’m sharing our personal experience, I encourage others to have their own and decide for themselves.

My daughter started with miss Darcy at age 3. She was very shy and clingy. Right from the first class I knew we were going to love it here. Miss Darcy has a great attitude and has a friendly, fun, energetic way with the little ones that draws them in and they love her. My daughter is almost 6 now and being at the MDA has helped her grow dramatically with her social skills and confidence. They are truly a great family community here. I can't say enough good things about this studio, the people who work here from the office to the teachers, Miss Darcy and the other dance families. Incredible, welcoming, kind hearted people here! My daughter says she wants to be a dance teacher when she grows up just like Miss Darcy ❤

My daughter has danced at Miss Darcy's for five years. She has grown so much as a dancer and a person in her time there. She's gained confidence, independence, and friendships that will last a life time in addition to the coordination, strength, balance, and flexibility that comes with dance. Darcy and her staff love their students and encourage them in so many ways. The instructors are so proud of their students achievements big and small. I love the caring atmosphere and consistent training. I look forward to watching my child continue to flourish at Miss Darcy's Academy of Dance and Art.

My daughter started dancing with Darcy when she was 3 and she is almost 6 now. Darcy is an amazing teacher and so is her staff. My daughter has such a passion for dance and she has excelled beyond my expectations. I could not ask for a better studio or teachers for my daughter to learn dance. I will never change her studio from Miss Darcy. We have grown so much at this studio and will continue to grow here.

Miss Darcy’s is the BEST around! My daughter started at the age of 4 and was incredibly shy. My daughter warmed up to Miss Darcy quickly! Darcy always made sure to make sure my daughter felt included, but wasn’t overbearing. It was my daughters favorite place and home away from home in no time. Miss Darcy and dance quickly gave my daughter the confidence she needed. My daughter went from taking one class a year, to wanting to take two, and now at the age of 6 is a member of the competition team. My daughters dances have always been cute, but appropriate. (No skimpy clothing on kids) Which always makes me happy! Miss Darcy has always been so helpful and always takes any questions or suggestions I’ve had and listened and put me at ease. We LOVE our experience and wouldn’t look anywhere else!
