Marlyn Abramson's New Dance Workshops Reviews
We have been at this school (different studios) for 8 years and a multitude of classes. My daughter has been thriving and happy with all of her teachers & classes, and we are very happy. We find the modest costumes very affordable, with prices for recitals, costumes, and fees for extra classes/programs very reasonable.I noticed a comment about the price of costumes. They are custom-ordered in October for a May recital, which is industry standard. We are living in a pandemic, with limited, set class sizes and students for contact tracing and safety.Dances are choreographed with safety/social distancing in mind and costumes ordered well in advance, as mentioned. So no, one cannot simply switch classes, costumes are designed for each class based on music used for that class. Miss Jen and Miss Marlyn are very accommodating on every, single area where they can be and I have seen them bend over backwards for the families in their classes. If you were told no, it’s a matter of costuming, time to learn dances, safety protocols and other factors. Not to simply be unaccommodating. Sometimes the need of many outweigh the need of the few.
Mar 01, 2021 · Jennifer DiffleyMy daughter has been dancing with New Dance Workshop for about 8 years and every year she shows more confidence in her ability to dance. The teachers are amazing and push the dancers to their fullest potential. They really do a fantastic job!
May 25, 2021 · Jennifer ButlerI feel like I need to let people know how this studio works for other busy working families with a lot to manage. I find the studio to be inflexible w/ the schedule and payment structure. That is, you pay for the year in 4 installments for the class that you choose. We happen to choose a Tuesday afternoon when my daughter was not in school. We paid $70 for the dance recital costume. My daughter is 4 years old, so we don't have a lot of experience and have only been to one other dance studio before signing up to New Dance Workshop. We had moved to Lansdale and signed up based on our neighbor's recommendation. This is of course during COVID-19 so all safety procedures are followed. Then, as things started to open up again and we enrolled my daughter back up for daycare/pre-school, we asked if we could change our day to another class on Saturday as going well into the evening in a mask all day is too long for a 4 year old. And to my disappointment, Miss Jen responds unapologetically that the class is full. she hopes that we continue the year, and well-even if that class WAS open, it would not work since the dance recital costume we bought for this class would not match that class's costume. I am very disappointed and it's amazing to me that this studio does such a poor job with making the classes so inflexible and scheduling for young children who LOVE dance. It's quite expensive for the lack of customer service.
Feb 10, 2021 · Phi NguyenWe have just completed our 12th year with NDW, and especially after a year like no other, I cannot say enough how much we love this school. IMO, it hits the sweet spot between a high-pressure competitive curriculum and just a fun way to pass an afternoon. Even with the extra challenges this past year+, these teachers still managed to continue developing real technique with the girls. I could go on and on about the intangibles (like how they truly prioritize overall health & long-term well-being of the girls, both physically and mentally) and more material elements (like how the costumers are always beautiful, age-appropriate, and actually quite frugal to other quotes I've heard) but then this would take forever to read through. I suggest just giving them a call to check out a class. :D
May 26, 2021 · Amy LendzinskiMy two girls have been attending New Dance Workshop for many years and we could not be happier. The school offers a wide array of classes and the teachers show a true passion for what they do.
