Their curriculum is carefully crafted to provide quality dance education with a strong emphasis on proper technique, physical activity, and confidence building.
- "Dance with Me" Classes (Ages 1.5-2 years old): A delightful introduction to movement, music, and rhythm for the youngest dancers, with parent participation encouraged. These classes focus on developing coordination and a love for dance in a playful setting.
- Combo Classes (Ages 3-6 years old): These popular classes, typically 45 minutes long, introduce foundational ballet and tap techniques. Instructors also incorporate basic tumbling, helping children develop crucial motor skills and coordination. As a customer noted, these classes help young dancers progress from a "gallop" to an "actual skip," showcasing tangible improvements.
- Ballet Classes (Ages 6 & up): Considered the foundation of all dance forms, ballet classes at JDSD focus on grace, poise, posture, flexibility, and classical technique. Class placement is determined by age and ability to ensure optimal learning.
- Tap Classes (Ages 6 & up): Students learn to use their feet to create rhythmic patterns and sounds with special tap shoes. The curriculum progresses from basic steps to more complex combinations, fostering rhythm and musicality.
- Jazz Classes (Ages 6 & up): Energetic and fun, jazz classes combine ballet techniques with contemporary and Broadway styles. Students engage in intensive warm-ups, stretching, and learn various leaps, turns, and center combinations to upbeat music.
- Lyrical Classes (Ages 6 & up): This expressive style blends ballet and jazz, focusing on conveying emotion and storytelling through movement. Lyrical dance encourages artistic interpretation and sensitivity to music.
- Hip-Hop Classes (Ages 6 & up): High-energy and dynamic, hip-hop classes teach contemporary street dance moves. The music is carefully censored to ensure age-appropriateness, and classes focus on fast, athletic movements.
- Musical Theater Classes (Ages 6 & up): Offering a variety of skills, these classes incorporate monologues, skits, acting, improvisation, and Broadway-style dance, helping students develop stage presence and performance skills.

Judy Dollenmayer Studio of Dance Reviews
We love JDSD. My siblings and I went here when I was a kid from ages 3-12 and now my daughter goes too. My daughter took the 3 year old class and I remember watching her progress from her “skip” being a gallop, to an actual skip which was really cool to watch, among many other movements that improved by the middle to end of her year there. I feel that the teachers are able to keep kids on task and build their confidence while doing so. The recitals are always exciting and well put together too. We tried a different dance studio last year that was closer to home but we felt it was a big waste! We are back again this year to Judy Dollenmayer and will be for years to come!

Mar 27, 2025 · Mike JordanI Danced at Judy’s my entire childhood and teen years. The best memories I have. I still dance. Now my daughter dances at Judy’s and she loves it so much! Would never choose another dance studio!
Feb 22, 2023 · Teresa JordanMy daughter didn’t too much like the class. It was okay but the 3 year old class does nothing but jump up and down and listen to frozen. I’ve seen three year old dancers do way more. I was expecting too much I guess
