My friend and I have been attending classes at Halau Hula O Kahealani since October. Our Tuesday hula class has become something we look forward to each week, as it provides a much needed release from the stresses of daily life. I am grateful that our teacher places emphasis on the fundamentals of hula and also incorporates teachings about Hawaiian culture and the significance behind the dance. The welcoming atmosphere and non-intimidating hula basics class make it a comfortable environment for beginners to join. As students progress, there are other levels of classes to move up to.Last November, we had the opportunity to watch the halau's show and it was absolutely amazing.Kumu has a warm hearted personality that makes the class enjoyable. While taking hula seriously, she also knows how to inject humor and make us laugh. Hula is truly a dance that can be enjoyed by all ages, from children to seniors. I definitely recommend trying out a class. - Kim P
