Gainesville Circus Center Reviews
GCC holds a special place in my heart. I have been taking classes on and off here for years and the staff are all so amazing, knowledgeable, and encouraging. GCC has fostered a wonderful little circus community in Gainesville.
Nov 04, 2024 · Makena LangI am not one to leave negative reviews, this is actually my first. I am so upset with my experience at Gainesville Circus Center, particularly because aerial silks is something I love deeply and was extremely excited to practice while I was away from my home studio. I am considered an intermediate/advanced student at my home studio. I have performed in several shows and know my skill level very well and what I am capable of doing. I would never want to attend a class that is beyond my capabilities, as aerial silks are extremely challenging and would become easily frustrated otherwise. I was only visiting for a few weeks in Gainesville and was told that I would be tested to see which classes I was capable of doing. I attended a class with a woman who calls herself the manager. She was extremely unwelcoming, unfriendly and in my opinion judgmental in my first class with her. She was also unable to demonstrate any of the skills, and relied on her young students to "show me" what she meant. The studio is dirty, the silks smell like sweat, there is a dog that walks around the studio freely which is both unhygienic and unsafe, in my opinion.I then attended the advanced class the following week and had a wonderful time. The skills were exactly at my level, and the young teacher was very kind and supportive. I booked another advanced class the following week as well as a few other lower level classes in-between. As I walk into the manager's class again, she emails me that I have been removed from the advanced class as I am not cleared to practice at that skill level. I then asked her to speak with the instructor of the advanced class to ensure I was able to practice at that level, to which she responded that this girl is only 19 and new and unable to make those decisions, in a very condescending way. She was putting down her own instructors and putting down their skills as well, someone she hired to teach advanced silk classes! I then told her that I did not want to take any additional classes and would like my money returned to me, to which she stated she would not. Lessening the amount to some smaller amount than the amount owed back to me.I DO NOT recommend this place for these reasons, and it makes me so sad because aerial is a wonderful sport that requires a lot of mental encouragement and support. I am so glad to return home to my home studio that is clean, loving and supportive beyond words. I hope the owner can read this and address these issues, so that future aerialists are not put down by this woman's poor judgement and overall bad attitude.
Apr 09, 2023 · Samantha WilburIf at first you don’t succeed, try again! I will definitely be trying again😂I attended a beginners class last night instructed by Ryah, and xe made me feel so comfortable and supported even though I was definitely the only true beginner in the class. I did not expect this amount of fun or this amount of difficulty honestly and I’m so happy I did it!It was a little chaotic at first if you don’t know the routine, so if you’re a newbie make sure you get there a little early and introduce yourself to get paperwork out of the way. (You do have to sign a physical form aside from the digital version.)I have a big personality and body that wasn’t really made for aerial so BIG shoutout again to Ryah for xyr patience, humor, encouragement, and kindness with me!
Nov 29, 2023 · MacKenzie MoffettMy daughter just did l a week at their summer camp. The dog is fine and sweet. The level up in confidence my daughter achieved there is world class.
Jul 08, 2023 · Mitchell TaftMy daughter had her birthday party there this past weekend. Great venue, very affordable, both of the instructors were great with the kids ( various ages) . All of the children had a great time! Thank you Corey and your staff for a great experience!
