This overview aims to provide a comprehensive look at what makes Frame Dance a truly special and invaluable resource for anyone in the Texas region looking to explore the transformative power of dance.
Frame Dance operates on a profound philosophy that dance creates compassionate, problem-solving, disciplined, curious, confident, and creative members of society. They believe that dance belongs in every phase of life and that everyone is inherently creative. The organization is deeply committed to the development of the whole person, prioritizing intellectual, artistic, and physical creativity through the discipline of dance. This means challenging minds, nurturing souls, and training bodies in a way that encourages strong, healthy body image and self-confidence. As highlighted by glowing reviews from local parents, the teaching style is "fun, patient, and creative," keeping students "engaged and excited every week." It's a place where children and adults alike are given "the freedom to feel, experiment and explore through dance," fostering a genuine love for the art form.
Frame Dance is renowned for its radically inclusive approach, welcoming "new" dancers through participatory experiences, and offering opportunities for all ages and abilities to work together. This intergenerational focus, particularly through their Ensemble programs, sets them apart, allowing a diverse group of individuals to collaborate and share in the creative process within a like-hearted community. Their commitment extends to educational outreach, enriching early childhood education with innovative dance curriculum, and supporting the broader Houston arts scene through performances and collaborations.

Oct 21, 2023 · Carmen CruzFrame Dance is such a special place! I first discovered Frame Dance almost 7 years ago when my oldest was a baby and we danced together in a sweet family class. Fast forward a few years and my children have loved the Primary Ballet and Kinder Ballet classes. Frame Dance is such a welcoming environment- the teachers are so kind and talented, the waiting area is family friendly with books and toys, Lydia Hance (the Founder & Artistic Director) greets each student by name…it is a place where my children are excited to return each week!
Oct 23, 2023 · ColleenWe LOVE the family class on Saturdays! I signed myself up with my 3yo daughter, and she is so taken with the teacher, the space, and the dance guidance. It is very low pressure, super engaging, and a really fun way to intentionally connect with my girl. I love that each class and has an educational theme (water, earth, shapes, etc), and all the dance activities introduce movement concepts that my daughter references all week long! We learned about direction one week and a couple days later at the grocery store, she said, “Look mom! I’m dancing backwards!” The instructor is excellent and the format of the class is incredibly inclusive. Our teacher has a mix of students who are outgoing and shy and she’s able to engage all of them and make them feel comfortable. Everyone has so much fun each week. Not to mention there’s always parking and it’s in a great location. We love it!
