Their curriculum is designed to offer a comprehensive dance education, fostering both artistic expression and technical proficiency. Here's a detailed overview of their services:
Diverse Dance Styles: FootNotes offers instruction in a broad spectrum of dance genres, including:
- Ballet: The foundational classical dance form, emphasizing proper body alignment, awareness, and technique through barre and center work. Classes are available for various ages and skill levels, including Pre-Pointe and Pointe for advanced students.
- Tap: A percussive dance form that develops rhythmic coordination and musicality. Classes are offered for ages 3+ through advanced levels, including adult tap.
- Jazz: An upbeat and dynamic style that explores body isolations, stretches, turns, kicks, leaps, and expressive choreography.
- Hip Hop: A high-energy freestyle dance form derived from street dance, breakdancing, and urban styles, popular for its vibrant movements.
- Contemporary/Lyrical: Fusing elements of ballet, jazz, and modern dance to express emotion and tell a story through fluid movement.
- Acrobatics/Tumbling: Similar to gymnastic floor skills, focusing on strength, flexibility, balance, and partnering work (stunting), with training in backbends, cartwheels, handsprings, aerial tricks, and more. Available for ages 4+ through advanced levels.
- Musical Theater: A theatrical dance style combining jazz technique with acting, using movement to tell stories from Broadway musicals.
Combination Classes: For younger students (ages 3-6), FootNotes offers combination programs that introduce ballet and tap in a nurturing environment, building a strong foundation in dance and movement while integrating concepts of self-awareness and creative expression.
Competitive Programs (The Vibe Performance Company): For students wishing to take their dance skills to the next level, FootNotes offers competitive opportunities through The Vibe Performance Company. These are typically audition-based teams (e.g., VPC-Bravo, Elite, Nova, Ovation, Premier, and Prodigy) that engage in rigorous training and participate in regional and national competitions, demonstrating "unmatched quality of technique, music selection, and choreography."
Recreational Programs: For dancers who enjoy dance for fun and exercise, the studio provides a supportive environment where they can learn and grow without the pressures of competition, offering a great balance between technique and enjoyment.

Mar 18, 2025 · Amber NeaseMy daughter has danced at Footnotes since 2009. She started in the 2nd grade and is now a freshman in HS and still is dancing with them. She LOVES dance and never wants to miss a class! I attribute that to the quality of dance education and the positive learning environment that this studio provides. Also a plus the group of girls that she dances with are all outstanding young ladies who support one another! Great Dance Studio!!!
