Encounter Arts Academy Reviews
I started my daughter here just a few months ago. At first it all seemed great but I quickly realized that their moral compass does not align with mine, and my daughter wasn't getting much individual attention along with the other girls. Instead of making sure each girl was doing the moves correctly it was more of an ok we pretty much all have it, good enough. They had a winter showcase that there was very little preparation for. My daughters class barely got to practice their routine before hand leading up to the showcase which was pretty infuriating to be honest. I feel like the girls were not set up for success. This studio bases their company on faith and God but the root of everything seems to be greed. Being so money hungry and claiming to be a faithful company left a very very bad taste in my mouth.Early on I recommended this dance academy to a friend. She joined, had similar feelings to mine and had other problems from them. She also decided to take her daughter out and leave. Thankfully I spoke with her about leaving because she reminded me that if 30 days notice isn't given before deciding to leave they will charge you a $50 fee(again, just money money money).I will not be recommending this dance academy to anyone going forward.
Dec 19, 2024 · MiaI am owed 2 refunds and they said they don’t owe me anything. The first payment went through with no problem because it was to sign up my daughter. She started school (which clearly indicates it went through as she started school and everything) but by the 2nd week we went to class and they took her out OF CLASS saying we didn’t pay tuition. This was NOT the correct way to treat a 5 YO or me as a paying customer. They took her out of a class i paid for, my 5 YO was so confused and sad as to why she couldn’t continue dancing and be with her friends. Now The issue was that there was an old account in the platform an EFT. Their system charged twice $155 to that old account. I did notify them about this before it happened that the system would not allow me to fully delete everything in the platform. I have emails notifying them of this, they just kept saying to go online to my portal. Well i kept showing them proof that I paid tuition $159 because it was a CARD (it even charges extra for paying on a card) But because the EFT kept failing they said i didnt pay. You can clearly see the difference if you look at the pictures. The EFT says this is a closed account and it says “EFT” and it says $155. The new payment shows it went through, for $159, and says “debit card.”I explained this a million times with pictures, circled it for them ever which way. They said they would call their platform but instead resorted to ignoring my phone calls which i find highly disrespectful again a preview of the owners poor character. From the beginning the owner has always had a rough personality and this is not the first time I’ve had issues with her. Last year we had problems because she was trying to charge me more after she said she wouldnt. They do not want to refund and kept ignoring my calls and emails so i unfortunately had to file a dispute with my card. I was trying my best to not escalate. Theyre still saying i didnt pay. Because what their system did was that since the EFT failed it put it back as a balance on the account. This is clearly wrong and she should be able to see that tuition is not over $200 like the balance is saying, it should be the $155 (which i paid $159 because the system charges extra for debit card)Anyway she said she would check their bank to see if i did truly pay them. But they just responded to me theres nothing they can do for me.Im so upset at Encounter and the owner and should have just listened to all the red flags in her rude character she kept giving. But i thought there werent any more Christian ballet schools nearby.I was able to find another Christian Dance school though EPIARTS and LC Dance.Glad we formed part of encounter before, but im glad im transitioning out. The rude character i cannot tolerate.
Feb 05, 2025 · neverbow downMy daughter absolutely enjoys her dance class! She is learning not only ballet and tap, but also how to worship the Lord through dance. Ms. Elliana has such a gift teaching the children with gentleness along with playfulness.Everyone involved with EAA are kind and hospitable!
Nov 17, 2022 · Monique PeraltaWe are so excited to be part of Encounter’s dance program! My daughter has grown to love dance even more than she did before and looks forward to each class. I can see her spiritual walk has blossomed beautifully this year, and her prayer life has deepened and she treasures the spiritual encouragement she gets from her teacher as they dance and direct their focus on God rather than self. It is so important to us that our kids have consistency in their activities and at home! We love that Encounter has done that for us.
Feb 07, 2024 · Adrianne EdwallMy daughters have been dancing with Mrs. Alanya for over three years now. To see their growth and development in not only their dance, but in their walk with Lord is amazing. Her devotion to not only make them better dancers but women of God is just one of the many things that we love about her.
