Empire Mambo Dance Studio Reviews
I have taken classes here a few times. Most of the people you encounter are friendly and are willing to help you in class. THEN THIS HAPPENED…..I attended an LVG social a few weeks ago at the Manhattan Empire Mambo location. When I took my bag to leave it was damaged severely on the outside. I was lucky nothing was taken or any of my belongings damaged. This has not happened to me until now and I’ve been dancing for 15+ years. Not sure what it is about this location I have had my bag moved and now damaged. I never had this problem in the past. I wouldn’t be surprised if this has happened a number of times and people are afraid to say anything. To those continuing to go this location secure your belongings. Yes this can happen anywhere, this is to make anyone aware to be mindful of where they leave their belongings and to secure it .
May 20, 2025 · Go-Getter LadyEmpire Mambo just made us pay $99 EACH for one class. We're visiting from Europe for a short time and wanted to take a class at Empire Mambo like we've done in the past. Except this time, they have changed their pricing and do not sell drop-ins; you can only buy one day pass for $99 or 5 classes for $150.The person at the reception had no empathy for our situation as visitors from abroad, and made no effort to help us. Even worse, he told us "if you had come before we could have done something, but now the only options are $99 or $150" which to me means:"We can be commercial when we want to, but now that you have already attended a class you have to pay so we will make sure to take advantage of that."I do not understand not having a drop-in price. The only reason I see is to prey on visitors from outside of NYC like us who are not expecting such a thing. In the future, we will be going to all the other amazing teachers in NY at Somos Candela, Eddie Torres Jr and Sr, Yamulee, who all have drop-in prices compatible with foreign visitors... Forget about Empire Mambo.
May 23, 2025 · Alejandra EstanislaoOne of the teachers told me I did not need to pay the day pass and could come over and pay for 1-2 classes drop-in. Then reception forced me and my girlfriend to pay each the whole day pass (100$).We went to the reception after the class because it was not clear that we had to check in first. We were not informed beforehand that the offer was no longer valid. We were not given any other better option than to pay each of us the full day pass even though we had taken 1 class. We paid the full day pass each of us and left feeling dissapointed.
May 23, 2025 · Javier CaberoGreat studio to learn from talented instructors, and they provide an amazing opportunity to transform yourself and enhance your body abilities, such as developing flexibility and coordination. Weekly programs focus on many different styles to help you achieve your goals quickly. Body movement, footwork, styling, musicality, partner work, Afro, Jazz, Ballet, Bachata… whatever you need, you'll get it at the same time, which is awesome!Beyond body training, instructors ensure a wealth of knowledge about each dance style. I’m really into learning resources, and I've made my list of what the instructor says in each class in a short time :) I always ask them to tell me the name of the movement or footwork, and they all do so kindly. These resources are all related to unique dance, history, and culture. In a supportive environment, instructors boost your confidence and provide a fun, positive mindset in class.Different levels and styles of the teams help you improve yourself really quickly, and I'm so lucky to be in Tania Cannarsa's team. She's so humble, informative, and supportive. I'm excited to be shown our first performance soon!
Jan 10, 2025 · AylinThe school is great! but the person who was in reception calls TJ was very disrespectful today(3/18/25). I don’t know if this person had a bad day or not but his behavior was unpleasant, unfriendly, not helpful and not professional at all. I was asking something and he was already answering in a very stressful way before I finish my question. He even made a mistake on calculating my billing due date and he didn’t apologize for his mistake. A rude receptionist like him sadly can leave a negative impression of this school “Empire Mambo” and making people unwelcome and unvalued. This school should provide at least a basic customer service training to a rude receptionist like him. If his behavior doesn’t change, I will cancel my membership.
