Classical Ballet: As the oldest classical ballet school in DeKalb County, ballet remains at the core of their offerings. Classes are structured across various levels (Level I-V, Company, Pointe, Pre-Pointe) to ensure progressive learning, emphasizing technique, grace, discipline, and musicality. Pointe classes require a doctor's note and simultaneous ballet technique classes.
Youth Programs: For the youngest dancers, programs like "Intro to Dance" (Ages 2-5) and "Step Into Dance" (Ages 5-6) introduce fundamental movement concepts, basic ballet and tap, and classroom etiquette in a fun, structured environment. Creative Movement for ages 3-4 also nurtures imagination alongside basic motor skills.
Modern Dance: Students can explore contemporary dance techniques, incorporating elements of fall and rebound, contraction, and floor work, drawing from methods of pioneers like Doris Humphrey, Martha Graham, and Doug Varone.
Tap Dance: An original American dance form that emphasizes rhythm and musicality through percussive footwork. The studio offers multiple levels (Tap I-IV, Adult Tap, Company Tap) focusing on agility and stylized movement.
Jazz Dance: These upbeat classes provide training in various jazz styles, focusing on dynamic choreography, flexibility, and performance quality. Classes range from Jazz I-IV to Company Jazz.
Lyrical Dance: Combining elements of ballet and jazz, lyrical dance focuses on expressing emotion through movement. The studio offers Advanced Lyrical and Company Lyrical classes.
Hip Hop: Catering to a wide age range, including beginning hip hop for ages 7+, this popular style focuses on urban dance forms and energetic choreography.
Swing Dance: Offering a unique addition to their curriculum, swing dance classes introduce students to partner dancing and the vibrant energy of this classic American dance form.
Scottish Highland Dance: A distinct and culturally rich dance form is also part of their diverse offerings, allowing students to learn about Scottish heritage through dance.
Adult Dance Classes: A significant highlight, the studio provides weekly adult ballet, tap, and other dance classes, making dance accessible for individuals who thought their "stage days were behind them." These classes often provide a rare opportunity for adult students to perform in annual recitals, creating a dream-come-true experience.

Apr 26, 2025 · Emma YI grew up in the Decatur School of Ballet. I started taking ballet lessons here when I was 5 and this was my second home until I was in my 20's......Now, the classes include modern dance, tap, swing, and adult classes! I'm so proud of how Ms Leslie stays true to the long tradition of ballet here, and also expands the program to include many other dance forms.....there is even a class for "Male dance for Music Theatre"! Love it!!!
