Dayananda Kalalayam Reviews
I have two daughters 15 and 11 and both of them have been learning Bharatanatyam from Vaishali (Dayananda Kalalayam - DKM) for the past 6 years. Both my daughters have literally grown up here and even after we moved to Pleasanton, we come here all the way to Fremont (not once but twice a week) because for us, this dance school is not another class that we pay for and go to. The learning experience here is irreplaceable for us.Her vibrant classes are so filled with passion that my 15 year old who is gearing up for her arangetram in a few years has said she would continue her classes even after her arangtrem. It takes something to instill in a student, a lifelong learning attitude.I am thoroughly satisfied with the way both my girls are shaping up as dancers. They are of course nowhere close to perfect but I see all the traits in them that are required to be passionate dancers for life and neither myself nor my husband have dancers in our families. I can only attribute this entirely to Vaishali . I love her wonderful supportive family that includes us as their own and makes every dance event (natyodaya , the annual dance festival or any temple performance) a DKM family event. Yes, here at DKM, the community is very closely knit and all the children that speak Tamil call their teacher "Vaishali athai".There are many things I could share about this outstanding dance teacher and this dance school but the most important contribution of Vaishali in my children's lives is that she is another parent for them. She has a very good grasp of both their personalities and she gets the best out of them. With a few health issues that my older one has been dealing with, she has been very understanding about her condition and has helped prevent some episodes given her acutely caring nature and I am ever grateful for that. She understands such limitations and with her relentless positive attitude makes things work for my 15 year old! I wonder how it would have been in any other dance school.I'm not a person that writes reviews but reading a negative one completely disturbed me and I HAD to share my positive experiences.
Aug 28, 2024 · Smita DodlatyWe had pretty bad experience with this teacher. I do not normally go around writing reviews, but my daughter came crying from class multiple times now. My daughter was 6 years old when she joined.1. When we first joined, the teacher never mentioned that she had expectation of families attending the performances in San Jose. When we once missed the event, she targeted my daughter in the class, shaming her for not attending.2. Some of these events are paid events and for every performance that any of her students give, she indirectly forces the rest of the students from all the batches, and their families to attend.3. This is how she targets children in class instead of directly talking to parents. These girls are as young as 5."If you don't come, its your mistake. If you have asked your parents to come, they would have come""If you don't come to others performance, then no one will come to your performance"
