Dance Davidson Reviews
My 15 year old daughter has been at Dance Davidson for 6 years. She has grown tremendously in not only her dance technique, but also in her confidence and maturity. The director, Terilynne Knox, and all of the dance instructors are amazing professionals who focus on developing technique and strength in all of the dancers. Dance Davidson is a dance studio that is not only developing amazing classically trained dancers, but also responsible, well-rounded, and respectful young adults. My daughter would not dance anywhere else!
Aug 05, 2020 · Shea BradfordThis is gonna be a lengthy review, but you're a hard-working parent looking for the right place for your child to grow and thrive as a dancer...grab some popcorn, maybe? My daughter started at Dance Davidson seven years ago. I was looking for a studio that would be the exact opposite of the one we had left in Pennsylvania. For us, that meant: 1) no hyper-sexualized dances or costumes, and 2) focus on technique over deceptive (but flashy!) stage tricks.**It was a priority for me to find a place where she could learn to appreciate her body for what it is capable of and not what it looks like.**We started at Dance Davidson because of their emphasis on teaching these dancers proper, healthy technique and because of their commitment to teaching their dancers respect for their own bodies and the amazing things they can achieve inside of the skin God gave them.We didn't realize that along with that, we would get:- A community of dancers who genuinely love and support one another- A place where cattiness and drama are not tolerated- Older (high school) dancers who invest their time and energy into loving and being role models for the younger ones- A group of teachers that love and celebrate your child for who they are while encouraging them to growAnd, as a bonus, I freaking love the other parents and the teachers there. They have become so dear to me.Before you decide, know that once you start here, your dancer will become highly disciplined. The classes start on time, the dancers have a strict dress code (for leotard, tights, shoes, and hair), the requirements for the performing companies are stringent, and they don't do anything the lazy way (which is evident when you watch the spectacular winter and spring performances). For us, this studio has become a second family. The dancers, the parents, the teachers - everyone is on your side. I joke that my daughter would pack up her bags and move into the studio if I would let her, but it's the truth! She has made friends here that will last a lifetime; she's developed confidence and skill as a dancer that I never dreamed of having when I was a dancer at her age; she absolutely adores every teacher and every genre; and she beams with each new skill and accomplishment because she knows how hard she has worked to earn it.If you're looking for a place where your son or daughter will develop excellent technique, where they will thrive in structure with teachers who truly love them, where they will find "family," where they perform age-appropriate (and highly technical) choreography, and where they will be encouraged to become the best version of themselves as a dancer and a human, then I cannot recommend Dance Davidson highly enough.
Aug 05, 2020 · Kendra IMajority of the time, people take the time to spread the bad news. Unfortunately, this won't be that kind of review. This is my daughter's second year with Dance Davidson and we are over joyed with her progress, increased confidence, and the company as a whole. We live about 40 minutes away from the studio and the owner has done everything in her big heart to help keep my daughter with the company! From allowing her to volunteer as a demonstrator with the Littles, so she could arrive early or stay late to allowing her to volunteer with summer camp to help fill a time gap. Im almost certain she has arranged a ride to/from Davidson College for a performance when I couldn't get there on time for the scheduled drop off/pick up. Without hesitation, letters of recommendation have been completed within 48 hours to other schools, all because she believes in her dancers. TL and her team is appreciated more than she will ever know and the mission statement attached to the company is a true representation of what Dance Davidson is all about!
Nov 30, 2023 · Tiffany RoWe have been at Dance Davidson for 10 years now. For someone who didn’t grow up dancing I wasn’t sure what to expect from a dance studio. I knew I wanted a classy, traditional studio that was rooted in ballet and where fundamentals of dance were front and center. I wasn’t interested in competition dance, glitter costumes and girls made to look 30 at 10. Dance Davidson has delivered on that and so much more. I have seen my daughter grow in her dance abilities and more importantly I have seen her grow in confidence and self esteem. She has made life long friends who are supportive and kind to one another. They celebrate each other’s progress and achievements in the dance studio and outside of it. This is all because of the environment created by the owner and instructors. The instructors are professional, extremely knowledgeable and sincerely care about each child. They hold the fundamentals in the forefront and make learning challenging and fun. So if you are looking for a Dance studio, I highly recommend Dance Davidson.
Aug 05, 2020 · Jenni OwensbyWe have had the pleasure of being with Dance Davidson for the past 7 years. The instruction is extremely high caliber, and the variety of classes offered is a nod to how much they appreciate the art of dance. Many of the instructors have watched my daughter grow and develop as a dancer and young lady - I can say they all truly care about their students. I can always trust that my daughter is in good hands while at dance, Terilynne treats her business and dancers as an extension of family. She has great expectations for each dancer and encourages them along the way (along with her staff of instructors) to bring out the best they can be. She is the kind of "coach" you want who can see greatness in you before you realize it is there. I highly recommend Dance Davidson to any dancer who is new to Davidson, or those tiny dancers who are looking to explore the fun of dance while learning the true fundamentals.
