Aug 11, 2019 · Nikki SizemoreMy daughter danced with Creative Characters for a few years and loved it. The instructors are wonderful. We went from a dance studio to Creative Characters. Aug 02, 2021 · Jennifer BurrisCreative Characters is such a wonderful community program. We found it while looking for theater programs for our son. Their "everyone gets cast" approach is wonderful (and seemingly rare in this area) because it allows kids to dip their toes in and see how they like theater without needing to have a lot of experience. The staff at Creative Characters is wonderful, compassionate and truly interested in providing a good experience for children in the community. My son's first production with Creative Characters was "Alice @ Wonderland." We were so disappointed when group programs got shut down in spring 2020 as we thought it meant he wouldn't have the opportunity to perform. Ms. Kelly pulled through though, scheduling time with each and every cast member to rehearse virtually and tape their scenes outdoors, so they could social distance. The team worked SO hard to make it happen and it was a rewarding and important experience for my son at a time where so much had been taken away from him.He also participated in a completely virtual production later that year. "Super Happy Awesome News" was again a lifeline for my son during COVID, when he was stuck with remote school and missing his friends. It was the perfect creative outlet during that difficult time.Ms. Kelly and the rest of the Creative Characters team moved mountains to give the kids an enriching arts experience when many programs simply shut down. Their affordable and inclusive programs add so much value to the community; I hope the city of Allen Park can continue to host Creative Characters for years to come.
Aug 08, 2021 · Chrissy BrackelIf you want your child to learn how to dance I do not recommend these people. Watching the kids at the beginning of each month they barely learn anything. I was surprised several times that they just played "swim through jello" for a Broadway jazz class. This is not for serious children. Our child couldnt make both recitals so they basically said she couldn't be in any. Which was a huge disappointment to my kid. But they sure were happy to take our money for so long just to say all or nothing later on. Save your money go somewhere worth it.
Mar 25, 2019 · Matt RekucCreative Characters we have been with your company for 4 years. On Sunday night, you decided to show my family how absolutely rotten you can be. My daughter was unable to dance in both recitals this year, so you decided to KICK HER OUT OF CLASS. Her teacher was fine with it, but YOU decided it was all or nothing. You kicked a sweet, loving and kind hearted little girl out of your class because she was only able to participate in one dance. You should be ashamed of yourself for treating my daughter so shamefully. You originally stated that she could at least finish out the class and not do the recital (since you have an all or nothing approach). But then you changed your mind and kicked her out. She was devastated and I am sickened by your behavior. Do you think you're putting on a show for prima ballerinas?? What gives you the right to step on her heart like that? She worked so hard all year and you kick her out like shes nothing. You have undoubtedly shown your true colors. You should put a warning on your enrollment paperwork, stating that you will callously kick the child out of class if she cant perform in both recitals. Your behavior towards an innocent child is disgusting.
