I attended “Their Eyes Were Watching God” this weekend. It was a great performance. There is one change that would be beneficial, the order of the show. The second half, after intermission, should be the first half & the first half should be the last half. I say this because there is a big energy shift between the two halves. Initially the audience is awake & eager to observe, so they will pay attention regardless. Therefore, Zora’s story needed to be told first because it is slower, less energetic. End it with the timeline for the second half, past to present, with more energy & a sense of purpose, relatability. In reading the audience, nonverbal behaviors, the switch-up would be beneficial to the production & most definitely to the reception & energy of the audience. This was my first show by your company & I will definitely be coming back for more. Overall, I greatly enjoyed!! - Christie Jones
