Nov 10, 2016 · krystal chewningI’ve had the pleasure of teaching at CDC for the last two years. From a teacher’s perspective, this is the most well-run dance studio I’ve ever been a part of. Amy DeShong has created an environment that is positive, celebrates successes, pushes the students, and provides the highest level of classical ballet training in the area. I remember walking in the first day for my trial class and being amazed at the professionalism that the students had – respectful, applied corrections immediately, hard-working, and dedicated to their training – all part of the culture created at CDC. And unlike most studios, drama-free.This is not a recreational studio and similar to other sports programs, the dancers and parents commit to year-round training. By offering year-round training (nine months of classes and optional summer intensive) rather than drop-in classes, this allows students to grow in their technique much faster, surpass any obstacles, and form close relationships with their classmates and teachers. The amount of growth the students have from year-to-year is astounding and extremely impressive.Your dancer will be in class with great quality girls and boys and will learn far more than ballet…they will learn how to be kind, compassionate, hard-working, believe in themselves, and create goals! They will be a part of a program that truly fosters the development of self-esteem, responsibility, and love for dance! If you are looking for phenomenal training and a studio that will welcome you like family, then CDC is the place for you.
Jun 17, 2020 · Sarah Van IseghemMy 11 year old daughter has taken ballet here since she was 6 years old. The instruction and attention to detail surpass anything we have experienced in any other arena. My 14 year old began last year and received the same level of instruction in ballet and contemporary. Even though she was an old beginner, she was affirmed and encouraged and welcomed every week. The staff goes above and beyond to make each dancer feel celebrated and challenged. Even during the COVID quarantine, extremely detailed feedback was given to their individual dance videos EVERY WEEK! And thorough efforts were made to ensure that the dancers could experience at least a level of reward for their work by having a safe and audience-free recital experience on a stage that was video recorded for posterity. We have treasured this ballet studio and are so grateful for their care for our family, not just as dancers but as developing women of integrity and character.
