If you are considering bringing your child to this dance studio it may be worth seriously reconsidering. At our first performance the experience was awful start to finish.The rehearsal: expect to find out a handful of days in advance of your child’s rehearsal time. Location is 45 minutes away. First dance is at 3:40 on a Tuesday. Extremely, inconvenient if your kids are in school, if you are a dual job family, single parent, really most situations. Well getting to the rehearsal site there was nobody to help locate where to go, no signs to point general direction etc. I am sure if you are a regular for this experience it’s fine but the first time through it is frustrating to say the least. Not to mention this production is extremely busy and chaotic. Frankly this was annoying but also I could forgive this if this was the only issue we experienced.When performance day comes our daughter (6 years old), who has special needs and is very nervous to perform, doesn’t get the support she needs. This to me is unbelievably unprofessional and inexcusable.Before the dance, My wife makes an employee aware of her situation and asks her to assist if she needs help. My wife goes and finds her seats, because she isn’t allowed to help (which is fine). She enjoys the talented dancers. After the wait it’s our kid’s turn. Well guess who doesn’t make it onto the stage? My wife goes back to ask the employee what happened and make sure our kid was ok. Thankfully she was totally fine but essentially was left behind. The employee’s response when asked why she didn’t help her get to her dance, “maybe her mother should have volunteered if she knew she needed help.”I don’t know if this person was just having a terrible day or if she’s regularly this cruel but forgive me for expecting my kid who has been practicing for weeks and was nervous to have some help getting onto the stage. Further, excuse me for thinking that the solution to having a process that ensures dancers dance isn’t parents as all day volunteers. Pretty sure the monthly dues and the outrageous ticket prices could afford paying someone, like the lady who was working there, to help the kids. For starters this isn’t a small event and the expectation that a 6 year old in general can independently navigate the chaos is absurd.

I found the place very nice. The instructors do their job very well. The owner told me that all the instructors work to everyone's ability. With all the years of teaching people how to dance, they feel they can teach even the most challenging person. The receptionist "Heather" and the owner were very kind and answered all my questions. Today I did not take a dance lesson. I just sat for one hour and watched. I wanted to find out if this place was a good fit for me. I plan on going back and changing my two left feet to a right and left foot.

DO NOT ENROLL YOURSELF AND/OR YOUR CHILDREN HERE! Most staff are not equipped with the tools necessary to welcome, and make a family feel welcomed, appreciated or respected, with the exception of dance teachers Ms. Lee and Ms. Avery and office staff Ms. Rachel. Especially a single parent family with a child with special needs. Things start at the top with one of the owners. She terminated my two little ones’ enrollment suddenly and unexpectedly as retaliation, weaponizing some late payments, after I spoke up about inappropriate, unprofessional and racist behavior by some of their staff, a ballet instructor included. I reported this behavior and never received the promised call back to further address the situation as they are not interested in receiving and addressing feedback that will highlight areas of growth. This is a blessing in disguises as we do not want to be a part of or be associated with any organization that operates in the manner in which they do. The owner’s decision will significantly impact my girls, which they did not care about, but I am certain that my wonderful, happy and vibrant girls and dancers will find a new dancing school that provides a respectful, welcoming and nurturing environment for them to thrive within.

This was my first experience with CDC and it was fantastic! I was surprised that there weren't more google reviews so I thought I would share mine. My son participated in the summer Hip Hop camp for a week with Mr. Efren and Mr. Quinell. Even though he had no previous dance experience (other than our own dance parties at home, lol!) he was welcomed and encouraged along with the other dancers. He learned a bunch of moves, gained confidence and had a lot of fun. As a parent I was really impressed with how well run the studio is, the professionalism of the staff and how we were communicated with every step of the way. For example, we knew way in advance what the kids were doing and what day and time the parent recital would be, etc. Lots of good emails and friendly follow up - we even got a fabulous video for a great memory! Thank you CDC for the fabulous first time experience - we'll be back!
