Body & Ballet Collective Introduce
For residents of Nashville, Tennessee, seeking a fitness experience that combines elegance with effective, low-impact workouts, Body & Ballet Collective stands out as a unique and highly recommended destination. This isn't just another gym; it's an elevated fitness center that blends the aesthetic grace of classical conditioning with contemporary expressions in a fun group setting. Body & Ballet Collective is dedicated to helping individuals achieve sustainable results and feel truly beautiful in their own bodies.
Owned by Melissa Chera, Body & Ballet Collective has quickly become a beloved spot for locals, even participating in community events like the annual Fit Crawl 2 Fight Breast Cancer. What truly sets this studio apart is its commitment to providing a challenging yet therapeutic environment. Clients consistently rave about feeling "stronger than ever" and appreciating the "great stretches" for various aches and pains, including neck and knee issues. It’s a place that focuses on personalized attention, ensuring that everyone, from beginners to advanced practitioners, receives modifications tailored to their specific needs.
Despite its name, Body & Ballet Collective is emphatically NOT a dance studio. This is a crucial distinction for those who might be hesitant due to a lack of dance experience. Instead, it leverages the principles that give dancers their sculpted physiques – strength, flexibility, and refined movement – and translates them into highly effective, low-impact workouts accessible to all. It's a "perfect refuge from the day to day hustle," offering "great vibes all around" and a calming, beautiful space for a truly transformative fitness journey.
Body & Ballet Collective is conveniently located at 702 18th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203, USA. This address places it within a dynamic and easily accessible part of Nashville, making it a feasible destination for residents across the city. The studio is situated in Midtown, an area known for its blend of commercial and residential spaces, ensuring good connectivity.
When it comes to accessibility, local users should be aware that street parking, both metered and in the neighborhood, is typically available. However, as with many popular areas in Nashville, parking can sometimes be tougher to find, especially during peak hours or on weekends and evenings when neighborhood parking might be limited. It is advisable to allow yourself extra time to find parking and get to class, ensuring a stress-free start to your workout. The central location also means it is likely well-served by local transportation routes, providing alternatives for those who prefer not to drive.
Body & Ballet Collective offers a curated selection of five distinct workout styles, all designed with a physical therapy-informed method to create sustainable results and a comprehensive total-body workout. These classes are tailored to fit each client's distinct tastes and abilities, ensuring there's a perfect blend for everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or goals.
Pure Mat: This class is 100% mat-based and delivers a full-body workout. It features ultra low-impact, highly effective isometric movements that gracefully burn muscles to fatigue. Deceptively challenging yet accessible, this class is available in Level One and Level Two, making it suitable for beginners while still providing a significant challenge for advanced practitioners.
Ballet Blend (BBCO Blend): This is the signature house offering, an ultimate fusion of floor work and barre. It allows participants to uncover their inner ballerina through beautifully challenging movements that elegantly sculpt, strengthen, and tone the entire body. Available in Level One and Level Two, it's designed to make you feel like a dancer without requiring any prior dance experience.
Sleek Stretch (Stretch + Restore): The perfect recovery session to complement other classes. These slow, dynamic stretches are designed to relax tense muscles, target trigger points, lengthen ligaments, and aid in injury prevention. It encourages deep breathing and relaxation, fostering a sense of peace, balance, and wellness.
Beyond Barre: An innovative full-body standing series workout focused on enhancing balance, increasing mobility, and developing elegant posture. This class uses graceful movements to fire up muscles and deeply engage the abs, providing a unique and effective way to strengthen and tone. Available in Level One and Level Two.
Foundation+: This class offers a gentle blend of modalities specifically tailored for beginners, those recovering from injuries, and pre/postnatal clients. It's an essential class designed to establish proper form, build muscle memory, and lay a strong foundation for your fitness journey.
Cardio Core: A class designed to increase cardiovascular endurance while strengthening the core, likely incorporating dynamic movements to get the heart rate up.
Flexibility+: A class dedicated to improving flexibility and range of motion, providing deep stretches and release for tight muscles.
Workshops: The studio also offers online and in-studio workshops that deep dive into relevant fitness training on featured topics such as Hip & Knee Stability, Posture & Alignment, Cardio Burn Intensive, Mastering Splits, Pre-Natal, and Marathon Training.
Body & Ballet Collective distinguishes itself with several key features and highlights that make it a premier fitness destination for locals in Nashville:
Personalized Attention in Small Classes: A maximum of 6 people per class ensures that every participant receives personalized attention and adjustments. This allows instructors to customize exercises to be more comfortable or challenging for each body's specific needs, mimicking a 1-on-1 feel even in a group setting.
Physical Therapy-Informed Method: The workouts are designed with input from physical therapy principles, focusing on creating sustainable results. This approach prioritizes proper form, injury prevention, and building foundational strength, making it suitable for all fitness levels and those with "tricky spots" or injuries.
Holistic Benefits: Beyond physical strength and flexibility, the studio emphasizes increased range of motion, better balance and posture, enhanced mind-body coordination, and an overarching sense of feeling better in your body. It's truly about cultivating a transformative technique.
Welcoming and Therapeutic Environment: Reviews consistently praise the "warm and welcoming" atmosphere and describe the space as "beautiful and calming," offering a "perfect refuge from the day to day hustle." This creates a supportive and non-intimidating place to work out.
Versatile Class Offerings: With five signature styles (Pure Mat, Ballet Blend, Sleek Stretch, Beyond Barre, and Foundation+), plus Cardio Core and Flexibility+, there's a class for every mood and fitness goal. This variety keeps workouts fresh and engaging.
Expert and Caring Instructors: Melissa Chera, the owner, and her amazing instructors are highly lauded for their ability to offer modifications for every level, from beginner to advanced, ensuring that everyone can participate effectively and safely.
Not a Dance Studio: This clear distinction helps manage expectations. It emphasizes that while the workouts draw inspiration from ballet aesthetics, no dance experience is required, making it accessible to a broader audience who might otherwise be intimidated by "ballet" in the name.
Community Engagement: The studio's participation in local events like the Fit Crawl 2 Fight Breast Cancer showcases its commitment to giving back to the Nashville community.
Flexible Scheduling: With class offerings early morning, midday, and evening, Body & Ballet Collective aims to provide times that fit various lifestyles, making it easier for busy individuals to commit to their fitness goals.

Body & Ballet Collective Reviews
I had a great welcoming experience and great stretches for my recent neck and knee pain - coming out stronger than ever! Their 5 styles of workouts are perfect: pure matt, ballet blend, sleek stretch, beyond barre & foundation+. Thanks to owner/ friend Melissa Chera (who has brought her studio to participate in our annual Fit Crawl 2 Fight Breast Cancer) & her amazing instructors!
May 09, 2025 · Rashed FakhruddinI rarely leave reviews but this had to be done! What a unique and wonderful studio! I was visiting for work, and luckily came upon this gem. The Pure Mat class was challenging, yet therapeutic. I have been doing Pilates for a decade and am quite strong, but Melissa offered modifications for every level from beginner to advanced, so anyone could take it! There is a 6 person max in class, which allows for personalized attention. The space itself is beautiful and calming, a perfect refuge from the day to day hustle. Melissa was so warm and welcoming. I cannot say enough good things. If I lived in Nashville, I would no doubt be a regular. It is unlike anything else I have done, and NO it is not a dance studio. Just an awesome low-impact effective workout and great vibes all around. I will be back on my next visit to Nashville!
Mar 21, 2025 · Sofiya ZLoved this class! As a former professional dancer it felt so nice to get back in touch with my ballet roots. The studio space is nice & very aesthetically pleasing! Our instructor (pardon me, I don’t remember her name) moved at a perfect pace and had a cheerful demeanor. If my body can look like hers or the wonderful lady behind the desk, I’m sold! Will be back for sure! Thanks ladies 🩷

Jan 26, 2025 · ArinMy favorite place in all of Nashville. The studio is so intimate where the max number of people taking a class is 8. The method is great for every body, and all the instructors work on what your body needs. Would highly recommend this studio, and I hope they expand to outside of Nashville 💛
