Alderwood Dance Spectrum Reviews
My family has been part of the ADS family for over 10 years. Our oldest daughter started dancing there before she was 2. My wife and I both feel so very fortunate to have found ADS. The staff are all amazing with the kiddos. They have played a huge role in our girl's becoming secure, confident, and hardworking young ladies. Anyone who is thinking of enrolling their child in dance, please do yourself a favor, and check out ADS. I wouldn't trade out time there for anything. It has been one of the highlights of fatherhood for me! Happy day!

Oct 11, 2024 · Dan OlsonIf I could give negative stars, I would. My 3 year old started classes in the beginning of September. We signed up for Saturday morning class. On the first day, we were told that it was just her in the class and that another kid “might” sign up. I was hesitant, but my child was excited to dance and this is my first experience with an activity for a child.Shortly after leaving her, I guess she was upset and asking for me over and over while crying for me. It lasted 40+ minutes according to Miss C. Not a single call was made to me, as the primary contact on her file!! I was 500 feet away, 30 seconds away in another store along the strip mall. I would have dropped everything and gone to her had I KNOWN. I believe Miss C got upset that she was unable to calm and redirect my child that she told her “mommy’s gone” because she has now picked up that phrase since.Miss C mentioned that there was more students in the Thursday classes and would contact me by Wednesday (4 days after our first class) to talk about switching my child to Thursdays. By Wednesday evening, I had not heard from her so I called the school and switched her. Upon entering the building on Thursday, Miss C greeted us and my child LOST IT. Full blown panic attack, crying, screaming to leave, was inconsolable for 20 minutes. My once independent, bubbly, happy, dance-loving, free-spirited 3 year old is now anxiety ridden, has not danced around our home since, and will not let me leave her sight. I cannot even close a door without her screaming and crying for me. They completely RUINED any trust she has with me and now my child and I face the consequences of the teachers actions.I’m disappointed, disgusted, angry, and frustrated at how my child was treated. After calling to talk about the situation and pulling my child from classes, Miss C tried to talk me out of my decision saying “she needs more time”. Absolutely not.
Sep 26, 2024 · Chelsey KalanickWe appreciate the variety of dance classes for all ages offered here. They have a winter showcase that is a good practice performance for kids if you aren’t sure they will do well on a big stage or if you don’t want to go all in financially for a costume and recital in June. They provide costumes for that showcase and the kids perform on a stage in December. The June recital is planned in such a way that you can invite everyone you’d like for only $10 a ticket, no assigned seats, so friends and family can come to the performance. The teachers and desk staff are supportive and caring to our students.
May 28, 2024 · Larissa BriesemeisterI danced ballet and various other styles here for five years starting at the age of twelve. Initially, I was right alongside my peers in terms of skill and time that the teachers were giving me. But as I grew up it became increasingly obvious that because I was taller and because I got along with both my classmates and eventually those that were younger, I was only being kept around as a babysitter for the younger girls since I was able to keep them “in line”, even though my development as a dancer was falling behind. Despite numerous inquiries about keeping up with my former peers and friends, eventually it became obvious that I would never be given the same amount of attention as my peers. Eventually my family and I left the studio because of my repeated recommendation for the same class without any actual improvements or direction from my teacher, Mrs. Sue, because they raised the prices, but looking back on it now as an adult is extremely heartbreaking. I had a lot of good experiences at this studio, but I would never wish it on a child to experience the developmental neglect I did while being taken advantage of. Come here or don’t, but that was my experience with this studio.
