Wilkes Family YMCA Reviews
For nearly nine years, my family and I have maintained a membership with this particular establishment while residing in the Dominican Republic. We typically visit Wilkes for several months each year. During our recent Christmas visit, I generously offered complimentary basketball practice for my sons’ park and recreation team, in addition to several homeschooled children in the area. However, my efforts to contribute positively were met with disheartening circumstances. After witnessing what I perceived to be the mistreatment of certain children, I took the initiative to report my concerns to the front desk. Regrettably, a few days following my report, I found myself falsely accused of communicating a threat of mass violence. This baseless accusation resulted in my arrest and subsequent trial. While the charge was ultimately dismissed, I was inexplicably convicted of a lesser charge, despite the overwhelming evidence contradicting the allegations.Compelling evidence indicates a disturbing collusion between the district attorney's office and the YMCA aimed at securing a wrongful conviction. The executive director, who was absent during the incident in question, allegedly provided false testimony to support the issuance of a warrant for my arrest and perjured themselves during my trial. This misconduct is easily demonstrable through my court transcripts. As someone who has made significant contributions to the sports world—achievements that can be validated through a simple Google search—I feel compelled to share this troubling experience. My family and I endured a grave injustice, and I caution others to remain vigilant. Such an unfortunate situation could indeed happen to anyone. The leadership at this establishment, from the executive team down to the board members, raises serious concerns regarding either incompetence or, worse yet, malicious intent. Therefore, I urge prospective visitors and members to exercise extreme caution when considering affiliation with this organization.
Feb 21, 2025 · Lenny MinayaThe upper management at this facility is a joke. It's a shame, because the building itself is the nicest facility in Wilkesboro, all thanks to the members who have invested in it over the years, no thanks to the few staff in the process of ruining it. Grew up going to this place as a kid and went there for twenty plus years, but their staffs' political convictions and personal insecurities led me elsewhere. It takes a long time to build something good, but only a second to ruin it. Sad to see this place give its keys over to insecure upper management who take out their personal issues on some of their members all the while pretending to "care for their members".They're more concerned about pushing their weak agenda than actually helping people with their health and personal goals. Sadly, like so many businesses of the last ten or so years, they preach "diversity" but are the quickest to pull the trigger with someone who has a different opinion of theirs. If you want to go to a "woke" gym, look no further. Nothing "Young" "Mens' " or "Christian" about this "Academy".

Jun 23, 2024 · ronda williamsSo I came to this place with my friends the workers were rude. The old lady with the white hair was being intolerable, saying we was doing all this and that and she’s told me and my friends to go back where we came from and called me and my friends a brat on the phone And everything else and I do not recommend coming here. This is the most rudest place. They have good customer service all this is the worst place. Don’t ever come here again.
