Tuesday Night Tango has established itself as a cornerstone of the Bay Area's vibrant tango scene, offering consistent, high-quality instruction and a welcoming space for dancers of all levels. The program is built on the philosophy that Argentine Tango, with its fiery movements and emotional depth, can teach much about form, connection, and even lead to a "flow state"—a moment of optimal enjoyment through deep involvement. This holistic approach to learning extends beyond mere steps, aiming to enrich participants' lives by fostering a deeper engagement with both the dance and themselves.
A significant draw for Tuesday Night Tango is its experienced and dedicated instructors, Leslie and Rich, who are consistently praised by students. Leslie is described as a "wonderful teacher" who is "good humored and descriptive," making complex techniques understandable. Her teaching style, which inherently allows participants to "both lead and follow each move," is particularly helpful for accelerating learning and developing a comprehensive understanding of the dance. Rich, who supervises the practice sessions, is also lauded as "excellent," bringing energy and personalized pointers to help students refine their techniques.
The program's structure is designed to be highly effective, combining a focused lesson with a supervised practice session. This combination ensures that students not only learn new material but also have immediate opportunities to apply and solidify their understanding in a practical setting. The inclusive atmosphere, where "no partner is needed" and participants "rotate rapidly in class," ensures that everyone feels welcome and has ample opportunity to dance and connect with different partners, fostering a strong sense of community.

Tuesday Night Tango Reviews
The beginner classes are usually less than 20 students in size. The technique of learning the leader's and follower's parts are difficult but inspite of the frustrations, the developed skills will improve your dancing abilities! Leslie gives alot of information and puts energy into giving you attention and gives pointers in your technique(s). After the 1 hour lesson, there is another 1 hour "supervised practice" taught by Rich. He gives it "his all" when teaching, and I think he is excellent! (as is Leslie). You could spend hundres of $$$ for private lessons, but if your desire and time frame is less than oprimal, these classes are the cost and time effective.... $12 for all the above and including a "practica" (practice dance) included...... Duh!
Oct 30, 2021 · Bruce DongLeslie is a wonderful teacher. She's good humored and descriptive. The opportunity to both lead and follow each move is very helpful to learning, and that is inherent in her teaching.
Oct 05, 2016 · ConnieHubs and I went for the first time last night. I think the teacher is amazing. Wonderful personality and sense of humor, and exquisite dancer. Watching her even left me feeling emotional. You really get the sense that you could do that, like the tango is within reach. This first class of the 8-week session was all about understanding lead and follow. Let me just say, You think you know, but you don't. Her demonstration reminded me of Donald O' Conner dancing with a dummy in Singing in the Rain. Or Fred Astaire avec coat rack in Daddylonglegs. Then, following her demonstration, we all took turns to lead and follow performing basic drills, trying to find that moment of pure connection, Donald and dummy. My best was with a woman called Ayuhsay (sp). We both felt it! Next week, I hope to achieve same with hubster. Can't wait!!
