Shreveport Dance Academy Reviews
I’ve been dancing with SDA my whole life (since I was 2 years old)! Even after graduating high school, I still come back and take classes every once in a while! Mrs. Keeley, the new owner, and Mrs. Sophie, another teacher at SDA, are both so welcoming and has been such great role models to me and the other dancers over the years! I wouldn’t have wanted to dance anywhere else!
Jul 25, 2024 · alayna millicanMy daughter has been dancing with Shreveport Dance Academy for nearly nine years. Honestly, we didn’t love the previous owner, but loved several of the teachers which is why we stayed and I’m glad we did because our favorite teacher, Keeley Pratt, took over ownership and what a breathe of fresh air it has been. Since the new ownership, I have seen a vast improvement in my daughter, not only in dance but in her confidence! All the staff and instructors at SDA are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about dance. They make sure their dancers are learning all the proper vocabulary and technique. They also pour their heart and soul into the dancers. They make everyone feel seen and loved! There is truly something for everyone - including adults! My daughter has been dancing on their competition team for four years and this past year, they had a record breaking season! But hands down the best thing about SDA is that you truly feel like family there. They make everyone who walks through the doors feel welcomed!
May 23, 2023 · courtney robisonMy daughter has been taking dance dance at Shreveport Dance Academy for almost 9 years. We were there through the ownership change, and I must say, it’s a breath of fresh air! From dark walls and stares/snarky remarks from the previous owner, to warm welcoming walls, positive vibes and smiles as you walk in the door from the new one! Keeley Pratt has done so much in the studio and it’s only getting better!Class sizes are perfect for any age and they have a variety of classes. From ballet, tap, jazz and modern to classes for adults like ballet and tap. They really focus on proper technique and take the time to explain to the kids how it should be done. They are quick to answer questions and help anyone who has trouble getting a step.My daughter is on their competition team and they have won many awards over the years. They had a record setting year this past season and are headed to nationals in July!If your looking for a studio with faculty that have years of dance experience, many with professional companies, positivity, amazing technique and a faculty that cares about your dancers well-being, then SDA is the studio for you!!
May 23, 2023 · sheshe01Boy mom here! When my 8 year old son asked to take dance, I had no idea where to begin. I asked around and SDA was recommended more than any other studio in the area. Three years later, SDA has become my home away from home. The staff at SDA is highly accredited, full of patience , warmth, and professionalism. The relationships my son and I have formed at SDA are some of our nearest and dearest. As a boy mom and a non dancer myself, I've had lots of questions - they have always been answered quickly, and thoroughly. I have seen my son grow and completely transform, not only as a dancer, but more importantly - as a person. At Shreveport Dance Academy my son has not only found strength, courage, and confidence - he has found his place with his people.
May 21, 2022 · Sonya RaberIf you want a place that considers your child’s mental and emotional health and/or body image, keep looking because this isn’t it. The staff here puts their image above everything else, even up to pulling a child from a recital dance the week of recital—after months of work (and tuition payments!). They think they’re putting on a Broadway show or something.Class sizes are enormous. There is no way a 6-8 year old can hope to get a solid foundation in ballet technique in a class with 20 children and one teacher. The new ownership has decimated the ballet program in favor of their “elite” competition team, which is exclusive but not exceptional. It really is unfortunate, because this used to be the best place, hands down, for dance education in Shreveport.
