Rose Studios for Youth Artists Introduce
For more than 75 years, The Rose Theater has been a beloved cornerstone of performing arts in Omaha, and Rose Studios for Youth Artists stands as a testament to its enduring commitment to nurturing young talent. If you're in Omaha and have a child or teenager with a passion for the stage, a budding interest in music, or a desire to explore the world of acting, Rose Studios offers a dedicated, vibrant space for them to learn, grow, and shine. This facility is specifically designed to provide high-quality arts education for young people, fostering creativity, building confidence, and developing essential life skills through the magic of performance. This article will provide you with a detailed overview of what makes Rose Studios for Youth Artists a valuable resource for families right here in our Omaha community.
Rose Studios for Youth Artists is an extension of The Rose Theater, a nationally recognized leader in theater for young audiences. This means that students at Rose Studios benefit from a rich legacy of artistic excellence and a deep understanding of youth development. The philosophy here centers on providing a supportive environment where young artists can unleash their creativity, gain a deep appreciation for the performing arts, and develop crucial life skills that extend far beyond the stage. For Omaha families, this means having a professional-grade arts education facility that is committed to the holistic growth of their children, right in their neighborhood.
One positive review from a local highlights a performance, noting, "Came here to see a friend daughter preform. The show was all kid run and produced. Fun place. Kids and parents were all happy." This showcases the empowering environment at Rose Studios, where young artists are given significant responsibility and agency in their productions, leading to fulfilling experiences for both performers and their families. This speaks to the studio's ability to create engaging and memorable experiences that celebrate youth talent and foster a love for the arts.
However, it's important to acknowledge that like any large organization serving a diverse public, experiences can vary. One reviewer shared a challenging experience with a summer camp, stating, "My daughter attended camp there last summer. The counselors were thoughtless when talking about her, in front of her. My perspective is that the counselors are under-trained in dealing with children, and they also have age ranges that are too wide in the camps -- they ask the same of 6 year olds as 13 year olds." This feedback suggests areas for improvement in staff training and age-appropriate programming, particularly within the summer camp context. The reviewer also noted a lack of response after emailing the camp, indicating potential issues with communication channels. While this specific experience is concerning, it serves as a reminder for prospective families to inquire about specific program structures, age group separations, and communication protocols, especially for camps or intensive programs, to ensure the best fit for their child.
Despite this isolated feedback, the overarching mission of The Rose Theater, which includes Rose Studios, remains steadfast: "to enrich the lives of children and families through live theater and arts education." This mission is supported by a wide array of classes and camps designed to meet young people where they are, considering their interests, experience, and goals in musical theater, dance, voice, and acting skills. They aim to provide each student with the chance to learn and grow in creativity, imagination, resilience, empathy, tolerance, and connection. This comprehensive approach is delivered by an inclusive and diverse professional staff of artists, educators, technicians, and administrators.

Apr 23, 2024 · Tnt BrandleMy daughter attended camp there last summer. The counselors were thoughtless when talking about her, in front of her. My perspective is that the counselors are under-trained in dealing with children, and they also have age ranges that are too wide in the camps -- they ask the same of 6 year olds as 13 year olds.Six months later, we are still dealing with the fallout of what they said. I emailed the camp twice and got no response, evidently they didn't care. I wouldn't recommend this camp to anyone.
