My daughter has attended the school of Nevada Ballet Theatre for 6 years. I originally selected NBT because I wanted to find a school that provides and emphasis on technique, building nerve pathways with slow progressions, to create a foundation for any form of movement that she should choose to use in her life.Beginning in the mommy and me ballet class, I appreciated the exposure to classical music listening to pieces like “Flight of the Bumblebee” or “Peter and the Wolf” from her first steps. Compared to this other local mommy and me ballet classes that used Justin Timberlake, (no shade to Justin, just not in a ballet class) I knew I made the best choice with NBT. Classical music should not be a lost art, nor should ballet for that matter.From the sculptures decorating the halls and entrance, music selections within the classrooms, and dress code, everything pointed toward NBT’s focus on classical technique and growth. Even during the pandemic, without the beloved walls of the ballet, my daughter loved and recognized her virtual ballet teacher, and would take lessons from the kitchen. Here I noticed cues for my daughter’s proper engagement for turn out (i.e. turning out without torquing the knees/ankles)and felt secure with ballet school selection.In the years since then, she has thoroughly enjoyed every performance on The Smith Center stage or at the Summerlin Library theatre. Each venue providing uniquely positive experiences, with value on training being emphasized. It is important to me that my daughter enjoys the process of learning (which involves hard work) as much as the adrenaline rush of performing. This is a large reason as to why I dodged other studios that present trophies upon their entrances, rather than the art sculptures of NBT. NBT is preserving and teaching fine arts, by valuing art over competition.My daughter has had the privilege of receiving tutelage from Ms. Melissa, Ms. Jaime, Ms. Masha, Ms. Dodie, and Ms. Lorie. They have all played an important role in her development and she spoke highly of them on days leading up to her classes with them. She even wrote a speech about her tap recital that she presented to her 3rd grade class. To me this shows how important her consistent ballet and tap training has become in her life. NBT has provided a sense of pride and accomplishment in my daughter, in addition to being very fun for her.I look forward to her continued growth with NBT, and profoundly thank her teachers for making her classes such an enjoyable, educational experience. She truly looks forward to her classes, which could only be possible with great teachers.

My daughter just started the summer intensive program and so far it's been great. Staff is friendly and helpful. Both her instructors are great and she is learning the fundamentals and vocabulary of ballet. Nevada Ballet Theater is very professional and is adding polish to her previous dance experience. We are glad we enrolled her.

I am surprised by how good the local ballet is! I didn’t expect it to compare favorably to ballets from bigger cities, but it is actually quite good!To whoever may run the ballet’s account, I have a strong recommendation for you: Please provide a warning for those with auditory sensitivity. The loud cannon booms were unexpected and made my daughter, who has Sensory Processing Disorder, very scared and upset. She was crying for a while at the end, and it overshadowed her enjoyment of the ballet.Just like you would have a warning for if there were flashing lights, I suggest a warning for kids and people with auditory sensitivity. If we had known ahead of time, we could have brought my daughter’s headphones. But it didn’t occur to me that this would be an issue at a ballet performance!The ballet itself is otherwise fantastic. Congratulations to all the dancers and musicians!
