Engage Dance Academy, Inc. Reviews
This studio is an extremely nurturing and professional environment. I have only been a student here for two years now, but I have to say they have been the best years in my dance life. The teachers and owners are amazing. They do not care what age you are, they allow you to grow at your own pace. The owners are from the Milwaukee Ballet, and are very professional. They allow anyone and everyone to dance, they always make sure each person has a role to play in each production. The Nutcracker is put on every year and is an amazing experience for dancers young and old. With complete sincerity, I have to say that if there was any place to dance, I would choose to dance at this studio.
Apr 06, 2024 · Emmy GeorgiouI have been dancing at Engage Dance Academy (formerly known as Summers academy of dance) since I was two years old and I have been impacted so greatly by the staff and students here! Marc and Courtney Petrocci have done nothing but make this studio so much more fun and I love how they get to know us more rather than just teaching us dance. I have learned so much not only about dance, but about myself, confidence, my surroundings, and people overall. The opportunities this studio offers as well is one of a kind as well, I have never had so much fun before than at a recital or an event with engage dance academy. This studio has watched me grow up and I hope you can decide to have your kid go through the same experience.
Jun 14, 2023 · KaosI have been dancing at Engage (previously known as Summers Academy of Dance) since I was 3 years old. I am now a soon to be Senior in high school continuing my dance training here and words cannot explain the impact not only the studio but the incredible staff has had on me as well. I do not feel like this is just any studio, it is a family and wherever you look there will always be a helping hand or someone to go to whenever you need it. I am so happy with the amount of well-roundedness I have received dancing here and there are so many different genres of dance to be able to branch out in. The teachers are incredible and they work so hard in order to make sure everyone is not only becoming a better dancer but a better version of themselves along the way. Even during the pandemic the teachers were able to set up zoom classes every week and we were still able to put on a beautiful performance virtually. I can't imagine how much work it took to be able to continue doing classes online to so many different people. Nonetheless, it has shown me all the work everyone has put into making sure the dancers are taken care of and safe. I grew up at this studio and it is my second home. From the dance teachers to the people who work behind the scenes, their sacrifices do not go unnoticed and I am so thankful to have the opportunity to dance here. This studio has made such a big impact on me and so many other people and for that I am forever grateful.
Jun 25, 2021 · alyssa guzmanWe have an 11 year old dancer who was with this studio previously in a class with a child who had a significant behavior problem. Our daughter was considered to move up; but denied the opportunity by the previous owner. For the sake of our daughter’s mental health we left the studio. We looked at returning this year due to some changes in work schedules and inquired about possible options since we were looking to sign up in August right before the season started. We were told that was not an option because classes were full - even though it says Registration is Open on the Website. Understood. Asked to speak to the owners about possibilities for PRIVATE LESSONS until there was an opportunity for our daughter to join a class or to participate in Nutcracker - no response from them. My husband then went to the studio just to check in only to be sent the following unbelievably classless and immature email at 12am:Good evening,I was told you stopped by the studio today wanting to speak with me about Marlo getting into our EDT program. Respectfully father to father I understand you making the trip to our studio on your daughter's behalf, doing all you can for her. I also would like you to be aware that I have been an active part of all the communication between the studio and your wife regarding Marlo. We have as considerately as possible answered all questions regarding our policy's, particularly with respect to maintaining our program admission protocols and our limitation on Nutcracker casting. It is clear from your wife's last email that there is a studio in Elgin where Marlo can train under qualified instruction. At this time, it is also clear that there is already significant dissatisfaction with our studios policies and procedures. We both understand your family voluntarily chose to go elsewhere for Marlo's training as we were not meeting your expectations many years ago.At this juncture it is clear to us that Engage is not the right dance studio for Marlo to continue her education in dance based on the past few day's interactions and your earlier choice to leave us many years ago.We thank you for your interest in Engage and from our perspective, respectfully, this conversation is concluded, and we wish Marlo the best of luck in her future career in dance.Marc Petrocci
Nov 02, 2022 · Kim NeilsonOur daughters have been dancing at Engage for over 6 years. When they were young, I loved the classes that offered ballet/jazz/tap plus tumbling. It was such a great way to get them moving and let them try different styles of dance. As they’ve gotten older, they’ve had more opportunities to grow as dancers, participating in productions of The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Cinderella, recitals, and competitions. We also love that Engage is the resident dance company at the Raue Center in Crystal Lake! It’s a joy to see how much the dancers learn about teamwork and commitment behind-the-scenes at the theatre. They also have a ton of fun! This studio has become a big part of our daughters’ lives and we are so grateful for the friendships and supportive owners and staff. Thank you!
