Dance West Reviews
The adult instruction at Dance West is phenomenal. I was so excited (and surprised) to find a dance studio that offered a real intro ballet class. The instructor, Monique, is professional, patient, and excels at her craft. It has been such a pleasure to learn to dance at 30+. If you've ever longed to learn, but thought you were too late to begin, do yourself a favor and try Dance West.
Aug 02, 2013 · Christine Lee Smith"Dance West is a positive environment for happy, passionate, serious adult ballet dancers"Dance West is a great place to learn ballet as an adultMost ballet studios are not adult friendly. Most ballet studios only reward tweens and early teens who have small bones, long legs, flexibility, nicely arched feet, small heads, tapering fingers, and parents that can pay for them to come 1-2 times a day, 6 days a week. Not so at Dance West. Mike & Monique, the owners, are serious about ballet and yet they temper it with the understanding that only 1% of their tweens and teens wants to be a professional dancer and that all of their adult dancers dance because they love it. They make ballet fun and hire teachers for tap, jazz, and hip hop that keep that attitude of fun. This is the least snooty dance studio I've been to, and I've been to A LOT of dance studios. Back when it was in Seal Beach, the class schedule & studio brochure used to note that eating disorders were not tolerated. Only by eating a healthy diet and healthy meals would dancers become strong enough to meet the demands of dance, it said. The connected company, Metropolitan Ballet Company, has won choreographic and performance awards in Europe on several occasions.
Jun 15, 2011 · Shuriu LoDance West is great. I take their classes all the time. They have great teachers for all ages and two major performance opportunities for every one every year and more for people on the dance team. I would definitely recommend dance west to anyone.
Jan 13, 2013 · Cecilia MontufarThis studio is great. This studio offers classes specifically for adults, which seems relatively rare. They have a strong dance team and the girls seem like they genuinely enjoy being there. Over all, as a adult male, I feel welcome there. I genuinely enjoy the classes. I would recommend this studio for anyone who likes to dance.
