For locals in the Ohio region, specifically those in Solon and the surrounding areas, Dance Studio M presents a local option for children's dance education. Its convenient location on Bainbridge Road in Solon offers a practical advantage, making it relatively easy for families to access without extensive travel, a common consideration for parents managing busy schedules. The physical studio space is noted by customers as being "nice enough," suggesting a suitable environment for dance instruction. Furthermore, the instructors are reportedly well-liked by students, indicating that the teaching quality within the classes is a positive aspect of the experience.
However, based on available public feedback, it is crucial for prospective local users to be fully aware of certain operational policies that have been a significant concern for existing customers. A recurring point of contention is the studio's mandatory ballet enrollment requirement. Parents highlight that if a child wishes to participate in other dance styles, such as Contemporary or Interpretive dance, they are also required to enroll in and pay for ballet classes, regardless of whether they desire to take ballet. Customers feel this is an unnecessary burden, especially when other studios do not enforce such a policy, and they express frustration over being "forced to pay for a class you don’t want to pay for and your daughter doesn’t want to take."
Additionally, the studio's recital preparation policies have drawn strong criticism. Parents report being "nickel and dimed for everything they can" when signing up for recitals, suggesting numerous additional, perhaps unexpected, costs. A particularly contentious point is the mandatory "long recital prep meeting" described as "entirely too long and covers agonizingly minute details over and over and over all in a patronizing tone." This meeting, which customers feel could easily be handled via email, is reportedly enforced by the "threat of withholding your recital outfit that you bought." This punitive approach and the perception of being spoken to "as if they are insolent children" have led to significant dissatisfaction.
In conclusion, while Dance Studio M offers local convenience and reportedly good instructors, the mandatory ballet requirement and the specific policies surrounding recitals appear to be significant drawbacks for a portion of its clientele. Local families in Solon considering Dance Studio M should thoroughly inquire about all financial commitments, class requirements, and participation policies before enrolling to ensure alignment with their expectations and preferences. This proactive approach will help determine if the studio's operational model is suitable for their family's needs.

Dance Studio M Reviews
The studio itself is nice enough. My daughter spoke well of the instructors as well. The problem lies with the business ends of this place. If you want to sign up for one style of dance the studio will also require to enroll in ballet. The explanation given is that ballet serves as the basis of the other style of dance. If you want contemporary dance, you will be required to sign up for (and pay for) ballet. Want interpretive dance, you need ballet. I understand there are fundamentals taught in ballet but this isn’t Juilliard. It’s kids dancing. I’m sure there are ways to teach dance without having mandatory ballet. Being forced to pay for a class you don’t want to pay for and your daughter doesn’t want to take is ridiculous. Other studios do not require this.If you sign up for a recital, this place will nickel and dime you for everything they can. Additionally you will be required a long recital prep meeting that is entirely too long and covers agonizingly minute details over and over and over all in a patronizing tone. All this could be accomplished over email. This requirement will be enforced by threat of withholding your recital outfit that you bought. It’s entirely ridiculous and punitive to require you to buy overpriced goods and then threaten to withhold them over if you don’t attend a meeting that will make you want to die. They talk to the parents as if they are insolent children.

Aug 01, 2023 · Dan DeiomaEverything was alright until we got to the recital. I requested that my daughter have tights that matched her skin tone. I was informed that all participants were wearing the same tights, which was true. However I was disputing why the color was chosen in the first place. It only looks appropriate on Caucasian skin tone.Needless to say they didn't budge. They're not ethically friendly . I have shared my story with others who too who seek a more ethnically friendly experience. I tell them dance studio m is not the placeWill have your brown skin baby dancing around in some Caucasian tone tights!
