Ballet Arizona Reviews
WOW! Such talent! We saw Eroica yesterday (Fri., May 23. 2025) evening. The weather was perfect, our seats were great, the music was stunning and the performance was exqusite. I haven't seen other big city ballet companys perform but I can't imagine that the dancers are any more athletic, talented, and beautiful than our Ballet Arizona! Thank you for sharing your talent with us at the Botanical Gardens!
May 24, 2025 路 Mary BartleyI was rocked to the core by Ballet Arizona last night. Always a raving fan , I have been coming to Ballet AZ for years. It has ruined me for other ballet troops.Last night I had the privilege to attend the world premiere of "Frida". From the very first movement, I knew that we were in for something almost other worldly in terms of magnificence. In my second round of chemo, My best friend treated me to second row. I brought my wheelchair due to exhaustion and was very excited to have a pleasant evening. Ballet Arizona never disappoints.Whether it was Gisele, Or Romeo and Juliet, Balanchine or the desert botanical, I have literally been mesmerized every moment, for years.Last night took it to the next level. Just when I thought you could not get any better. No way, no how! My eyes were so glued to the stage, That involuntary tears happened. Then, when the eight sides of Frida Entered for the first time - rolling tears proceeded for the next 5 to 10 minutes at least.I have never in my life been so physically moved by any performing art, and I am a classically trained Theatre actress. I was riveted. Not just in the emotions but also in the sheer grandeur and dedication of the performers themselves.I do want to call out one specific performer. We did not get a play bill, unfortunately They ran out for the crowd. My only complaint, but I will not give it less than a five star review. It was the doe. This girl number one completely embodied a living doe. But from one actor to another, (and she is indeed an actor in addition to what I would consider a prima ballerina 馃┌) I must applaud that I could not stop staring at her when she was on stage. Not only is her vessel world class, but to be able to stay in character every single second, And perform with such precision, It was almost like watching AI. It was so perfect. 馃槏 I hope someone shows this review to her because since the lead in Gisele, she is my all-time favorite. This does not go to discredit the main star. She is Breathtaking. I was blown away by her style and mannerisms and precision.Everything the Director wanted me to see and feel I'm sure I felt it. And I'm not one of those people that typically gets the storylines unless my daughter is sitting next to me, whispering them in my ear. I am typically watching from a creative & technical perspective and enjoying every bit of the show. The show took me out out of that. I was fully engrossed and part in what I was watching and could feel so much sitting in this audience. The $400,000 was worth it. This is the best show on earth hands-down. This show is what Hamilton is to Broadway... Frida Will be the gift that gives itself to the world.
Feb 17, 2025 路 Gia Evitah HartmanNOWHERE in the description of information did they say LATE ENTRANCE MUST WAIT FOR INTERMISSION! I paid good money for the tickets and I have to watch the ENTIRE first half on a TV in the lobby?! NEVER AGAIN will I WASTE money on this companies performances.
Mar 11, 2025 路 gregory roseOne of the seats I purchased had a an obstructed view which was not indicated on the ticket, nor was the ticket cheaper than the rest of my tickets. I was unable to see the ballet clearly. When I emailed Ballet AZ to get a refund they said 'sorry no refunds'. If a seat has an obstructed view that should be indicated prior to purchase and it should not cost as much as the seats beside it. Overall the entire experience we a huge disappointment.
Dec 16, 2024 路 Emily McMahonBallet Arizona's Frida delightfully captured the essence of the life of Frida Kahlo. The ballet allowed us to be exposed to the beautiful, joyful, artistic, dramatic, and tragic phases of the life of Frida. The cast, music, costume, set, and lighting did a great job.
