I have always loved dance. As a child I was never given the opportunity to take dance lessons but was able to participate in some high school drill team and dance corp activities. As a young adult I watched with envy as couples would dance at weddings. There had been no dancing at my own wedding and my husband said he didn't know how to dance so I resigned myself to line dancing with friends. My first husband died in 2013 and a few years ago I began to go out with a widower who had been a long time friend of our family. He had no dance experience at all but was open to a new adventure. We began with ballroom dance which included one of my favorites - swing. Even though we were beginners we attended many of the group dance events and found the more experienced dancers so welcoming and so helpful that it was amazing fun. We have taken advantage of some private lessons, and are currently also taking Latin dance. We spend a couple of hours outside of class reviewing the videos and practicing. It warms my heart to see how hard he works at a skill that is quite a stretch for him. We are engaged to be married this summer and dance is going to be the main event at our reception. We've even asked Tanya to help us rehearse for our "first dance" and even help teach a few simple steps to our guests so that all those people out there who have novice partners can also feel the joy of dance.

We began taking dance lessons in 2018 and have kept it up ever since! It’s become a fun and laid-back activity that we both enjoy. We look forward to our weekly lessons and practicing at home in between. It’s a perfect excuse to spend quality time together doing something relaxing and enjoyable. We turn our practice sessions into date nights at home…disco ball on, music playing, and just having fun with it. We laugh through our mistakes, but we’re also improving our skills together, which has been a really rewarding experience. Plus, it’s such a blast being able to dance with real steps in a social setting. It makes everything feel even more exciting! My husband and I did private dance classes with Tanya at Art is Motion and our experience was phenomenal! She was patient and her level of experience made us feel sure we were in good hands. I'd say if you are looking for dance classes for a special event (for us, our wedding) at least 5 classes is preferable in order to learn the basics and then learn the moves for your specific song. Highly recommend Tanya and Art is Motion, and we will be back here soon for more dance classes in the future!

This place is wonderful. The teachers are very friendly. Inviting, and helpful. They make the environment comfortable and fun. I am so happy to have chosen social dancing to learn with this company. If anyone is questioning if they want to try but feel like the environment might be uncomfortable, come here. This place takes away the worry and makes trying something new fun!Update 10/16/2410/10 would reccomend this studio for regular dance class and to learn a new dance with your partner. Our dance teacher, Tanya, is such a blessing. She is patient, knowledgeable, and fun to learn from. My partner and I are taking wedding dance classes with her and she has composed a wonderful routine for us. We cannot wait to perform it for our friends and family. It is well worth the investment!

My wife and I have been coming to Art is Motion weekly for about a year now, and we have had such an amazing time with everyone! We were complete beginners, but Tanya and Winston have made us feel welcome and comfortable in both private and group classes. If you are hesitant about starting in a group setting, you can try some private lessons to gain confidence. They are very flexible in working with your schedule as much as possible, so you should be able to find a time that works for you no matter how busy you are. The environment is very positive and fun, the instructors are highly talented and can work with any skill level, and they teach a wide variety of styles to suit your preferences. They also host additional workshops with professional guest speakers and dance parties where you can enjoy what you've learned. If you are interested in competitive dancing, they can help with that as well. No matter if you are a couple or single, beginner or advanced, want private or group lessons, or just want to drop in for dance parties or guest workshops, you will have a great time with Art is Motion!
