Stumptown Dance Reviews
My friend told me about this dance on Sunday nights and I was very excited to go! After the beginner lesson I was surprised how even the numbers were for leads to follows. It was a great night and I am definitely coming back every Sunday. Also the prices of lessons are literally half of other places like Arthur Murry. Very affordable and Mindy knows her stuff while also being a very well rounded instructor. The dancers show the effort she's put into them.
Jun 14, 2022 · Aaron ThorpeI've been dancing for a year plus change now and go to Stumptown Dance on Sunday's frequently. The teachers are great about including more advanced details in the lessons that make them worth attending after you know the material and the intermediate classes are included along with the dance.I went to a workshop recently where we worked on swing outs. It was nice to focus on technique and doing the move comfortably. Swing outs are something you work on for as long as you swing dance and two hours isn't a lot of time to learn them but the instructor did a great job breaking the move down.
May 20, 2019 · WillGreat vibe and fun way to try out East Coast Swing dancing. On Sundays, they have a short intro for beginners that I highly recommend.
Nov 11, 2024 · D GuildnerWe went to a "Lindy 101" lesson from stumptown that was $25 each and two hours long and did not even dance the basic to music by the end. It was painfully slow, way over explained and allowed almost no practice-just a lot of Mindy talking. Mindy is really nice and she knows her stuff in how to dance but is not a good teacher and the lesson was way overpriced for what it was. Everything taught in that lesson could have been covered in about 20mins Just go to the pre dance lessons on Sunday and you'll be way better off, or look on YouTube.
Apr 29, 2019 · Asrune Whitney ReedI go pretty frequently to Sunday swing because I love dancing, however the music choices can be dull - no highs or lows, just the same mediocre old swing music.I’ve also been shushed for socializing during announcements, which is very off putting.
